About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

Come Early Stay Late
Come Early to warm up on the range. Stay late to play 18 on the world class putting green. The course is challenging. I'm a 14 handicap and played well to shoot an 83. The layout inspires confidence and allows golfers of all levels to compete. I will definitely be back to play again soon.
Don't play when cart path only
We've played here 3 times and it seems like this course stays cart path only. It's not friendly to pace of play as the path is very far away from fairway. Taking 2-3 clubs to every shot because the distance changes by 10-25yds from what the cart says at path and where it reads from fairway w range finder is ridiculous. Will not play here again if carts are on path. The course is great otherwise and you will use most of your clubs in bag as you have to move the ball. Love the challenge and conditions.
Excellent Experience
UNC Finley is a challenging layout without being penal. It’s walkable with the holes being close to one another. With six sets of tees, there is a length that suits each golfer. The staff is friendly and the practice areas have been upgraded.
UNC Greatness
Tough course, with challenging layout throughout. A little repairs getting done but all worth it. We’ll be back.
Funky change
Not a big fan of the funky changes that Davis Love III made to give golf team more land. It was a much better layout before. But I guess he did the best he could with what he had. It is not worth the money they’re asking.
Strange Change
The change that was made seemed self serving and doesn’t reflect the previous standards the course layout had previously. I’m not a fan of the design. Over priced now and not worth the money.
Enjoyable Round!
Was visiting the area for the holidays and decided to take a spin on the Finley course. As a New Yorker, dormant grass is unfamiliar. However, the greens were phenomenal! I played as a single and was paired with 3 members who were very kind and helpful. I hope to return to the course in the summer!
Members!
The members won’t let you play through (southern hospitality is a myth). So if you book a tee time in the winter make sure it’s 5 hours before sunset.
