UNC Finley Golf Course
About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

This is a great course. The greens are in great shape.
First class
A tough but fair layout, if you play from the correct tees. If you’re not as good as you think you are then you will find trouble. Loved the facility and the staff. Have fun!
Top 3 Course in the Area
Awesome course but can be a little pricey. Can usually get decent deals. Paid $35 for most recent weekend round, which is rare in my experience, but I would do every day and twice on Sundays. Worth the $85 or whatever normal price is if you don't mind paying that much or don't play that much. I'm personally pretty happy when I pay less than $50-$60.
Pace of play can be terrible, but you can also unexpectedly find yourself on a day when very few groups are out there. Played on a beautiful Saturday during a UNC football game and finished in 4 hours but have also played 4:45 to 5 hour rounds, which can be miserable.
Overall, always one of the first places I look for a time on Golf Now.
Tough course but fun
Regular price a little high but a good buy if you can score a discount round.
Solid course on a college campus
Good layout , course condition very good especially for amount of traffic it sees .
Good value for money .
Great Course at a Great Rate
Finley is one of the better courses in the area, and the conditions were excellent on 10/30.
Tough but fair course. You can miss the fairways and still scramble a bit. Recommend trying to play with someone with local knowledge; luckily I did and probably saved a few strokes as a first-timer. Snack shop was out of sandwiches at the turn :(
Great Day
Finley was in great shape! Greens were fast and in good shape for having such heavy traffic. Fairways were neat and trimmed. Bermuda roughs are always tough. Pace of play was good with very little wait. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Weather was perfect.
Excellent course - Amazing condition
UNC Finley had a lot of amazing reviews and after playing it I can see why. This is a top level course for a great price through GolfNow. The course itself was in immaculate condition. I don't think I have EVER seen greens that are as receptive to well hit balls, allowing good shots to stop and spin back, while still putting as fast an as true as these greens do. Usually you sacrifice speed for ball control on the approach but not in this case. Most of the greens are large and (unfortunately) most are very well protected by green side bunkers.
The rough was extremely well maintained an actually cut a little too short and easy in my opinion. All fairways were in amazing shape as were the tee boxes.
If there were any negative that I could say about the course, and it isn't even the fault of the course is that the group that I played with wanted to play from the blues (I would consider blue one tee shy of the "tips") but playing from the blues brought a lot of the trouble into play for a long driver whereas if we have played the next tee back (the golds) then it was more conducive to longer hitters, and still leaves even another tee (the Tar Heels) further back to play from. Again this isn't the fault of the course but I think that the blues should be the tees that most average to better players play from, but I think that the Golds are actually that tee box at this location.
Again overall this is one of the nicest courses that I have played in the Carolinas (I would rank it up near Quail Hollow in Charlotte) and every part of the course was in amazing shape, and I love how the greens play. I will be back to play (from the Tar Heels or Golds) in the near future.
Four star option
Course in great shape. Fairways and tboxes plush, greens consistent and quick, bunkers full of sand and raked, range well maintained. Layout at Finley interesting and fair, a pleasure to play. Fees on high end for public but appropriate for the quality. Finley is on my list to play on a regular basis in the Triangle.
Wonderful experience
My only regret is that I don't live in the area, and can't play the course on a regular basis.
Splendid day
Although I attended UNC 50 years ago, this was my first time playing Finley. The staff was first rate and ensured we had a good experience. The course was superb.
Great day. But...
Played here before and like it a lot. Felt like I got screwed this time when the third that was added to our twosome was telling us how he paid $40 less than us. We got the "hot deal" I would call it the "not so hot" deal. I''ll stick to Chapel Ridge from now on.
Amazing course, amazing value
I was passing through town and had not played this course since a tournament in college. It's absolutely amazing. It's every bit as good as Pinehurst, but more accessible and 20% the price.
Nice course
Played before but definitely in the best shape I have seen. Always looking for hot deals here!
Beautiful day, beautiful course
First time here, played on a $39.00 online voucher. Caught a rare dry, comfortable day for this time of year.
At $39 I'd give up every other course within 45 minutes of home. It's a really beautiful course in outstanding condition, especially for mid-summer in the Raleigh area. A great mix of holes - not a boring hole in the bunch.
Pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. Range was very functional, though the balls were a bit worn. No distance markers on the range or distance board on the tee, but that's not a big deal.
Only two negatives about the day:
1 - Pace of play was very slow. The one marshall we encountered on #12 tee told us pto expect slow play, but didn't act like it was within his scope to do anything about it. Total time was 4:45.
2 - Food in the turn shack is ridiculously overpriced. $3 for a Clif bar? $6 for a beer? Chapel Hill isn't Hilton Head.

Course was in great condition. Had a great day. Will come back again.
