UNC Finley Golf Course
About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

Carolina Bliss...
Only word to describe it is Perfect!! Course is dang near perfect. The entire staff is friendly, happy and helpful.
Nice track
A lot of fun. I played the blue tees and all the holes were fair. No tricks.
Excellent
Really nice course. Fast, smooth greens. Nice tee boxes. Generous but very challenging. You have to move the ball around some. Give it a shot.
Solid Course
The Finley Course is a solid golf course. The layout is really good and challenges all level of players. The collection of par 3s are especially good. #6 & #14 are the two best, but the others are very good as well.
I will say that choosing the correct tees is important here. We played from the Blue tees and it was a little too short. There are some holes that are pretty awkward from that length if you are a longer player.
My only real critique is that the fairway bunkers have A LOT of sand in them, which makes them very difficult to hit out of, especially because many of them are quite deep.
Another fine experience!
Course is challenging, but impossible. And it's in beautiful shape. Maybe my favorite course in the Triangle!
Nice layout with excellent conditions
Interesting course to play. Many doglegs that require shot shaping to play well. Greens are perched high enough to require high shots with spin to get close putts on many holes. Not many hazards but plenty of bunkers to keep you honest. Fun for most skill levels but need so length off the tee to score. That said, older or shorter hitters should move up a tee.
Big course. Excellent conditioning and great value.
Played UNC Finley for the first time in Feb. 2017. My son is a Tar Heel freshman and we had a great day on the course. We played from the Gold Tees and walked. It is a big course and by the end of the day we were tired, but very pleased with everything. Fairways tend to be wide and greens big, so that helped us since we had never played here before.
The entire experience was fantastic. The pro shop staff and starter were all professional and friendly. The tees and greens were nicely manicured - even in February. Notably, the course is free of houses and has the feel of a much more exclusive club. The Tom Fazio layout was superb and you could mostly see how each hole played by standing on the tee box. No tricks here - very straight forward.
Only slight drawback was pace of play at 4.5+ hours, but it was not a big deal at all. We can't wait to get back out to UNC Finley!
Friday Grand
Excellent course but round took 5 hours which was a little rough
Excellent condition overall including tees and greens
Excellent bratwurst and hospitality at turn
Just needed to speed up the pace
Rangers and all workers were great
First time and NOT my last!
This was my first round at the "NEW FINLEY" and needless to say it was outstanding. The fairways were perfect and the greens were like ice. Nedless to say, those conditions added more than a few strokes to my round of 88. I can't wait until I go at her again. This time I will bring MY putter and prepare for the elevations. Thank you
SO SLOW
can not complaint anything but pace of play. there are so many people playing when weather is good so expect at least 5 hours to play. played several times here today is the best green ever roll really well.
Great course
If u play this course u will have a better time playing it when it hasn't rained for at least 2 days or it will be cart path only because there is a lot of clay under course. Other than that it is an excellent course with alot of different layout holes. Great shape for February with very fast greens.Staff is very friendly and educate a new player as to course layout. Snack bar/resturants closes very early this time of year. Would recommend this course to play
UNC FINLEY REVIEW
Course layout is exceptional. Well placed traps to catch errant shots but fair if you hit it straight. Greens in very good shape. Staff vety friendly. Recommended to play. A bit expensive normally but I got a hot deal which was great.
Love Finley
It was in the upper 40's and windy but course was dry and 90 degree fairways rule was in place. Pace was 4-hrs and we only had to wait on a few tee boxes on front 9. Fairways were a bit cushiony and greens were relatively fast and rolled perfectly.
All in all, a great deal for what we paid ($38), and we always jump on GolfNow deals there.
Awesome layout
Awesome layout, super friendly staff, all the rangers were friendly, helpful, kept the pace of play very well, greens were quick and true. Course give you plenty of options for ever level of player. And the beer was very cold after the round
One of the best in the Triangle
Course was in excellent shape with the greens rolling great. Finley has a great mix of holes that need just about every club in the bag to navigate and lots to think about on the tee and with approach shots. A little crowded but got around in 4:30 - not too bad. This is a top course in the triangle area and a must play - also among the more affordable among the college courses.
