UNC Finley Golf Course
About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

Golfer Reviews
Terrific test but fair
I always enjoy playing Finley as it is beautiful, challenging but fair without a bunch of tricks and gimmicks, and most always in great shape. Even in winter, the fairways and greens are in terrific condition.
Best public course in area!
In my opinion, Finley is the best public course in Chapel Hill and the surrounding area, if you can get a cheap price on GolfNow.com. The course conditions on April 14, 2013, were just okay. Maybe I'm spoiled because I've seen Finley in much better shape. The recently aerified greens may have had something to do with that. Still, even Finley's aerified greens are better than alot of other nearby courses everyday greens. This course is challenging but not too much so that it's not fun. There is a great mix of short and long par 4s and 5s. The scenery is also amazing and tranquil. The recently renovated proshop is looks awesome and the newly added grill is a BIG upgrade. Also, Finley has the best driving range, chipping green, and putting greens around.
Great value for this time of year.
This is the first time playing UNC Finley and I would definitely come back now that I know the course layout. Some real challenging holes, but a fair layout for the middle handicap golfer.
One of the best in the Triangle
Very well maintained, not too difficult on 1st 9, but interesting. Requires your attention and better play on the back 9. Good mix of lengths. great use of the terrain.
best greens around
I live in the Southern Pines / Pinehurst area. so am used to great courses. The Finley greens rank up there with the best I' 've played anywhere. The dormant fairways and rough were also well groomed. The entire facility is first rate. Looking forward to playing there again.
Must, must play
I was visiting from Illinois, and played this course for the first time since the 1999 re-design by Tom Fazio. It is now an amazing course. All you can handle at 7,350 yds from the tips, but playable from the front tees for the good-old boys with whom I was paired. The greens were fast, pristine and rolled very true. It's a beautiful course. No houses intrude. Has some wild areas and wildlife. Not difficult to walk the course, with the tees near the greens, and only a few moderate elevation changes. The price is very reasonable, too. If you are in the area, this should be at the top of the list.
A well thought out course layout and great facility.
If you ever attended the UNC coaches golf school in the 90s and haven't returned to the facility since, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the complete redesign of the course and add ons, including a beautiful new clubhouse. Nice work UNC and Mr. Fazio. Very impressive all around!
Excellent Condition
It was a warm Saturday in November, so a lot of people were out golfing. Otherwise, we had a great time.
Greens were fast but true.
The food staff were very helpful (Thanks Blake and Jeanine!!!).
We will golf there again!!!
well maintained, good golf course.
This course looks easy at first, but green is difficult. It seems it is maintained very carefully, compared other courses which have many fallen leaves on green. The staff is very friendly. I really like this course.
Overall a good quality golf course
overall a good quality golf course. The price is a little steep in my opinion. Fun and challenging layout
great layout and beautiful view
i will be back soon to play again even though i live 60 miles away.
Great setting
A beautiful course. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition.
best course in trianle area.
Absoulutely superb conditioned golf course..Best we've played from Triangle to Pinehurst..
Best conditions in Raleigh
Finley is equal to, if not in better shape that any course in Raleigh. From tee to green the course is perfect.
The range is pristine and tight. Staff is overly friendly, but who can complain about that?
The course is relatively challenging and plays around 6800 yards from the Gold tee boxes. It's a fair test of golf.
Recently saw in Golf or Golf Digest that it was in the Top 100 you can play. For the money, it's worth every penny.
Great place to play!
Course was in very good shape. Nice challenging layout but not so hard that it isn't enjoyable. One of the better courses in the area in my opinion.
Perfect course
I play 3-4 times a week at all different courses in the Triangle area.
This is by far the best condition course. Greens are perfect and very challenging course . Use Golfnow for some great discounts
Possibly the best manicured course I've ever played....anywhere.
From the very friendly and informative 'starter' to the very last hole of this course, we were raving about the place. Bentgrass greens were absolutely perfect. This is surprising, considering three other courses I know, in the Raleigh, NC area, have had a disastrous summer with their greens.
Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were in such fine shape there's nothing else left to judge. Their new clubhouse is well on its way to being completed.
Love It!
Shot 79 which tied my personal best. A fantastic golf course. Loved it.
Outstanding!!!
I hadn't played Finley since the remodel, in short ... Fazio did a "spectacular" job! A completely fair and playable layout for all. Course conditions were excellent! M-A-N-I-C-U-R-E-D! You won't find a public course like this in the triangle. A MUST PLAY!
