Greens need work

The bunkers are some of the best in the area, fairways are nice but the greens are terrible. They are all tore up on the outside and the middle is patchy. The design is awesome. This place was not worth $70

A little water goes a long way…

When you pay $92 for a round of golf, you expect the conditions to match the price. Clearly the owners of Old Sycamore, are pocketing the proceeds with little respect for the golfers that are playing their course. Even the starter had to make up an excuse that the greens suffered from the drought (what drought?) And once we arrived at Green number one, it was evident these things haven’t been watered for weeks outside of the rain we’ve had due to Helene. These things felt like concrete and the “hazards” we had to putt around or through were ridiculous. If they had warned me upfront, I probably would’ve chose somewhere else to play, but of course, that would deter many. To add injury to insult, they charge you a fee to use a credit card for your greens fees, on top of the online fees. Won’t be playing here again soon and neither should you.

Better greens at a trash dump

Greens were awful. Putts would bounce off the mounds of turf that was rotting.

Greens need repair.

Very nice course. Cart path only, so it will take time especially if there is a foursome in front of you. Fairways are great and open. But, the greens are destroyed. It’s hard to describe…, it has very little grass on them, not smooth, and it’s going to add strokes- no question.

The greens were not good at all

The greens were in horrible condition. They were all in rough condition and some of them weren’t even mowed. On one green it looked like the cup had been in the same place for at least a week or two.

Nice course. Lost their greens

The title says it all. I read a few reviews prior to playing and knew the greens weren't in great shape but I live close and thought it wouldn't be so bad. I was wrong. The greens are so far gone its ridiculous. On top of the greens having tons of dead spots they are growing them out to the point putting on the grass that's left is just a waste of time. All that said I hope the get it back together the course is laid out well and is a great time when it's in shape.

Greens still 35% dead

The greens are about 65%. The edges are dead , dirt, sand. There are some scattered dead spots on the rest of the green area. They did good job of putting the pins in the good part of the greens. Green on the par 3 4th is very bad on the bottom shelf left side. It’s probably the worse one on the course. Now the tee boxes are fine and the fairways are excellent condition. The price should stay low until the greens reach 90%. Great layout that makes you hit other clubs beside driver. Still will play again.

Greens were in the worst condition of any course I have ever played. Clubhouse, starter, and ranger were all extremely rude. You would think this place is Augusta National with how strict and serious they are.

Greens were awful

I have played this course numerous times. This is the first time I’ve ever had this issue. The greens on the entire course on every hole were absolutely destroyed massive dirt patches, uneven greens mounds of sand burnt areas. I understand that we have gotten a lot of heat here in the Carolinas, but I play 2 to 3 times a week different courses all the time. This is the only course that I’ve been to that it’s been this bad. For me, it’s not even just about the greens being bad. It’s about no one even mentioning that anyone there’s no note there’s no online or website stating how bad the greens are or anything. I was pretty disappointed in this

Do not play now!!

They have lost their greens!! Patchy grass that was not cut, The rest was sand. They claim the rate we paid was a discount rate. I asked about a senior rate and they said everyone was being charged the same.

Don't go until greens are fixed

Have played this course when it was in good shape, and it's great, but something happened to ALL of the greens recently and it's frustrating that they even let people play on them. They put up a sign at check in that they're struggling with greens, but you're already there and ready to play by that time and you don't know what's actually coming or the severity of it. And they say it's a discounted rate to accommodate for this, but $65 is still a joke to pay for those conditions. I wouldn't pay $10 to play there right now.

Great potential

This course in its prime I’m sure is a gem. However when we played, the greens were by far one of the worst I’ve ever seen. First 3 wholes were spent following a guy on running a blower which was not great. Will be willing to give it another try, but for $60 and with green you can putt on, paying more for potential better conditions will be a tough thing to do.

Greens

The course was in good shape, with bunkers and fairways, except for the greens. Almost all were bad, but they are working on it. For the price for a Friday, I will play this course again, even with the bad greens
