Not as expected
Course is under construction to improve the cart paths. Fairways were sketchy and the greens were slow and bumpy. PR is one of my favorite local courses and I hope these conditions are temporary.
Great course and fun to play
We love this course and drive from Lexington to play here often. Tha course is always in good shape and you can tell the owners put money back into the course a lot. They are currently redoing all of their cart paths which isn't cheap but is much needed. I know some have said the grass is very thin on the tee boxes and fairways. I think that's true and I believe it's because it's one of the very few golf courses that oversees their entire golf course in the fall. This makes the tees, fairways, and greens super to play on in the fall and winter. Now that it's late spring/early summer, the winter rye grass is dying which makes the Bermuda grass take time to come back. I hope it gets better later this summer as the course is worth the price to play!
No grass
Just played 06/05/2026. We used to play this course all the time when I lived in Aiken, SC. I had not played it in 20 years. The staff is still friendly, the course a good layout, but all the tee boxes and fairways were very sparse for grass. The greens and bunkers were all in good shape but not much grass on every tee box and all the fairways. The price was only $50 so cheap, but you had to move it around to find some grass to hit off of. Still love the course but I will give it 2 months of summer grass growth before I will go back.
Great Course!
I’ve played here several times. I’ve always enjoyed myself. The layout is great and the value is even better. There are course improvements being made right now which includes a brand new cart path throughout the entire course so if you are planning on playing there soon, prepare for some delays. We had to skip holes 4 & 5 but they let us circle back after we finished 18 to play them. The rye grass is burning out in the fairways but the greens look pretty good after the punching. You can barely see the punch marks. A couple more weeks and they will be even better. It’s a hidden gem!
Great Place to Play Golf
Recent heavy rains had saturated parts of the course so we had to be mindful of areas to avoid. The course architecture is exceptional and creative and the greens are superb in design and conditioning. The staff are extremely helpful and cordial. I will definitely play Pine Ridge again.
Not up to Par
Unfortunately, what is usually one of the better conditioned courses around, has horrible fairways right now. Like everyone, they suffered from the early drought. Timing was off, as they aerated the entire course right before all the heavy rains & for whatever reason, the summer grass in the fairways just hasn't come in. There are several areas that are basically just mud. Everything else, tees, greens, rough are in great shape, just fairways are awful. Hopefully a couple weeks of drying out will allow the Bermuda to finally come in. We'll skip it for a couple weeks & then try it again in the end of the month. Still a good value in the area, but be advised, bar is now closed on Monday and Tuesday!!!
Nice layout.
Other than the expected slow play, I thoroughly enjoyed my round. The course is well maintained, staff is friendly and other golfers are professional & considerate. I like the layout of the course as much as any in the same price range.
Worst i have ever seen it
It was in terrible shape. The greens were punched which is fine but they did not sand properly. The fairways were dead. The rough was unevenly maintained. Just the worst it has ever been.
