Grand Canyon University Golf Course

I love that it is not an easy course to play it has many challenges!

Carts are dirty, course is in horrible condition, greens are burnt out, sand traps are like dirt. I expect more but now I know.

Course is in really bad shape. Greens are always distressed whether its not overseesing in winter or just no grass in the summer, but I've never seen them this bad since gcu partnered with the city ( ive played there quite a few times. There are lots of things to give feedback on but ill refrain. Take note- sometimes cancelations happen at the last minute and the course should never charge green fees for cancelled players...NEVER!!!

The area behind the driving range, like the fairway on number #5 and 1st cut on the right of #10 were being re-sodded so they were all roped off with sprinklers everywhere. Otherwise the rest of the course was in fine condition for summer PHX. Greens are always good here, roll fast and true. Hard fast fairways and patchy bermuda over hard pan lies in a few areas where the sprinklers don't really reach - like between 12 and 14. Great value for a mid-tier course. Park style layout is great if you like to walk.

Let's start with the great!! The staff at Grand Canyon are fantastic!!

Now for the bad. Waited on almost every tee box. Round took 5 hours to play.

Greens were in pretty bad shape. Might be transitioning to summer grass from winter rye, but there were many bare spots and very rough surfaces.

Have played grand Canyon a few times, but by far these were the worst conditions.

DONT BOTHER TO RAKE THE SAND TRAPS UNLESS YOU WANT HAND FULLS OF FIBERGLASS SHARDS FROM THE "RATCHET" RAKES, JUST SAYIN....

The course was a typical championship course with difficult approaches and aggressive green set ups. Our biggest disappointment would be how hard packed the bunkers were with noted spotted greens/fringe. Most likely will not return.
