About
Devil's Claw is one of two golf courses at Whirlwind G.C., part of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation near Chandler. In addition to its views of four mountain ranges -- South Mountain, the Estrella Mountains, the San Tan Mountains and the Superstitions -- Devil's Claw overflows with Native American culture.
A round on the Devil's Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club begins on Greasy Mountain, a par-4 424-yarder that faces Muh-wah Ha-dahk - the Gila River Indian Community's name for South Mountain. Things get long on the fifth, Maricopa Journey, a par-5 593-yarder designed to memorialize the travels of the Pee-Posh (or Maricopa tribe) from the Colorado River to where the Gila and Salt rivers meet. Go home via Going Home, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 442 yards from the Black tees. As the Gila River Indian Community sings it, "Our songs are ending as you go your separate ways, take along with you the good songs that were sung here today, as within your hearts."
Don't go straight home: You can still fit in another song after golfing the Devil's Claw golf course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the clubhouse, which features a fully stocked bar and plenty of plasma televisions for relaxing and catching up on other sports.

The waffle fry round
Won a free 4ball from Whirlwinds IG contest a few months back and was able to get the boys out for a round this past Sunday! Course did not disappoint as always. Immaculate shape. Only concern was we only saw the Bev cart twice during the round. We would have spent a lot more money if it came around more often. But the course was spectacular and had a great time.
This course NEVER disappoints
I come out to Phoenix from the northeast to play golf a few times per winter and spring. I always look to play this course. So much fun and so well thought out! This is a winner period. You will pay a premium but it is so worth it!
Could be better
Everything about this course was fantastic. The only issue I had was every staff member other than bag drop gentleman wasn’t friendly at all . For the price you pay you can go to Ak -chin 15 minutes away and have excellent service .
Awesome day
Greens just a bit fuzzy, making them very slow. Altogether a very enjoyable round.

Very well maintained course one of the best I’ve played.
Hot but worth the burn
This course is now in my top 5 of AZ. Don't get out to fancy ones that much but when we do no disappointments. This course was taken care of. For end of Aug this place was in great shape. Greens fast and true. Start palying good and Devils Claw snatches you back to reality. Will play again when not balling on a budget
Another great round
Outstanding summer conditions, highly recommend this course . Fairways , bunkers and greens are as they should be , the greens are rolling firm
Fun course in great shape
Played here for the first time and really enjoyed this course. There are several holes that kind of feel the same but the course is in perfect shape and the tee boxes are so good they literally look like greens they are so perfect. I have played almost all the courses in Phoenix and their tee boxes might be the best I have ever seen. Fairways also were in great shape and greens were smooth but slow due to 115 degree heat. I am sure they can't cut them low right now. Just a real fun course in really good shape. It is flat and not like Dinosaur Mountain or Quintero but in great shape.
Summer golf
You can't beat summer golf at a course like this, which gets watered a lot. It was in fantastic shape for mid-August!

The course is in great shape and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
The greens are great and much better than most.
Hopefully the cart girl is okay after her mishap yesterday and glad we could help.

A must play
This course never disappoints me , yesterday was no exception. The conditions are excellent , especially given its August . The fairways are well maintained and full , the bunkers are neatly trimmed …and have nice white sand … the Greens are outstanding . A shout out to the beverage girl , she was polite, and always happy to help , even if we only needed ice . The course offers “all you can drink” premium water , and the cart guys are friendly and on there game . I highly recommend this course .
