The fight continues to improve Sharp Park, the historic seaside municipal golf course in Pacifica, Calif.
The 10th Annual Alister MacKenzie Benefit Auction is raising money for the non-profit San Francisco Public Golf Alliance, a 501.c.3 public benefit corporation that advocates and protects public golf and municipal courses in California and the San Francisco Bay Area. Its primary focus is to preserve and restore Sharp Park. Currently overseen by San Francisco Recreation & Parks, the Alister MacKenzie design oozes with potential. If only some proper maintenance and management could unlock its potential. The golf alliance is working hard behind the scenes to bring slow but meaningful change. It's a worthy cause.
The online auction, which features 66 items, will wrap up at 8 pm PT Nov. 13. What makes it unique is the variety of price points, featuring a nice mix of public courses available for bid that are much more affordable than the pricy private club experiences. Much of the inventory is based on California, but not all. If you don't live in the Golden State, it's always worth visiting should you feel inspired to bid. Here's a look:
