About
River Ridge Golf Club is one of the finest public golf courses in Raleigh. The course sprawls across 100 acres in the heart of the Triangle, it's an easy 15-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. The lush green of the course contrasts beautifully with the Carolina blue skies. Mature trees frame most of the holes and there are a few lakes that come into play. The rolling terrain provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The course's signature hole is the par-4 fifth, a 375-yard hole that can be conquered with smart play. Try to keep your long iron or fairway wood to the right of the fairway, which will give you a short iron approach into the green.

Solid course / Good Value
Liked playing it for 1st time last year, so decided to come back while I was in town. Nice layout! Has some hidden shots, so good to play with someone who knows course. Uphill shots definitely require you to club up 1. Greens seem to be in really good shape. Make sure you practice putting before going out. May be slightly slower than practice green, but depends on angle of putt. Would definitely consider coming back to play next time in area.

Enjoyed the course greatly, as it was a challenging setup and in great shape. Pace was a bit slow, but it was a beautiful Friday in mid-September and every tee time was booked with a threesome or foursome. Got a small bucket of balls at no charge at check in was a nice surprise. Kudos to River Ridge and kudos to Craigers!
River Ridge
Still believe RR is perhaps the best value in the area and remains my go-to (I often play as a single and on short notice).
Pace of play this Friday was a problem (wasn’t addressed until late on the back nine) and there still is no water on the course.
Good Layout, Bad Value
Used to be a member here so am pretty experienced. Several years ago it was the best value public course in the Raleigh area. It's got a fun layout and used to be pretty well maintained. About two years ago it came under new management. Since then they've raised prices significantly and lowered the course conditions. Greens are usually pretty good, but at no point do they bother to manage the bunkers. They are washed out with no sand. They removed ball washer and any water from the course during covid and never bothered to bring them back. People need water in a summer round in NC. You can get water at the clubhouse obviously but it's slow and sometimes you run out of water during 9 when its 95 degrees. This is still a fun course but it's $75 on the weekends and even like $60 after 3PM and it's just not worth that.
Great shape
Course was in really good shape. Greens were running well and fairway/tee boxes were good.

Played here a few times in the last few weeks. Course is very well kept, greens run true, and you hit off real grass on the range. Only problem I have is the lack of water coolers on any of the tee boxes. We’re now in the heart of summer and it’s simply a safety concern to not have any places to hydrate the golfers.
