Jones at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center
About
The Rees Jones course at Sea Trail Plantation is one of three courses on the property, which covers 2,000 acres of creeks and wooded lots.
It's in Sunset Beach, N.C., once named the top coastal destination in the U.S. by Money magazine, and in 2003, Golf Week named Sea Trail in America's best residential courses of distinction.
All three courses, by Dan Maples, Rees Jones and Willard Byrd got 4-star ratings from Golf Digest.
The Jones course opened in 1990 and has wide, rolling fairways and mounds and many of the elevated greens are surrounded by water. Water comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes, but those aren't the only hazards. You'll also have to deal with pot and large expanse bunkers. The course stretches to 6,761 from the tips and has a moderately difficult slope rating of 135 from the back tees. The Jones course has four sets of tees, down to 4,912 from the most forward tees.

Sea Trail # 5 Photo submitted by Duane7133 on 09/11/2019
Had a great day
Started early and played front nine under 2 hours. Missed hole in one by 11 inches on 17 on Jones
Good greens.
Front nine great conditions, overall course a little wet. Greens in good shape, pace was a little slow for an early tee time.
Sea trail
Nice scenic layout. Good value for the green fees. Good condition.
Happiness
Need improve on the greens & also maybe the fairways! If want people to come back, want have better conditions the course! Especially when it not in season! There were bumps on the greens! The bag people were friendly!
Good value
Course was in good shape. Would recommend. Only issue was wish they told us they start groups off of both nines. Had first tee time out and played front nine in 1:45. Then had to wait over 35 minutes to tee off on ten as they had 5 groups waiting to go off the back.
Great day of golf on Jones
Jones course was in solid shape considering what a lot of the area courses have gone through with weather. A couple of fairways were very wet, but understandable after morning rain. Greens definitely playable, but will be better in a month or so. Tee boxes were in great shape. This course understands family golf and taking care of juniors. We will back this summer for sure.
Nice layout, horrible greens
Rees Jones design is very good. The greens are in horrible condition....thatchy, spots on greens with shaggy weed making greens completely unpredictable and not fun to putt on. No water jugs on the course!! Bring a range finder or Garmin.... very few yardage markings. Money spent could have been spent on a better course at the same rate. If the greens were decent at all, I would recommend the course....as it stands... Do Not Waste Your Time or Money on this course.
Looking forward to our next round
Marshall explained conditions clearly, and bar tender, he was friendly and efficient. Thank you for keeping the ladies rest rooms clean on the courses
Sea Trail Rees Jones
Windy!!! Nice setting, quick greens, course is in good shape. You get rewarded with accuracy that's for sure. You also get penalized for inaccuracy. I would recommend this course to everyone!!!
for the time of the year
Ok greens rough looking but rolled ok -- fairways sparse
Sea Trail Rees Jones
THE WIND BLEW TOO MUCH!!! ;-) Fighting the wind was the biggest issue for me. The course was in good condition and greens rolled true. Would play this course again and would highly recommend it to others.
Windy day
Fairways in good condition for early spring. Greens were slow and a little rough.
5-STARS
Awesome course!
Awesome staff!
Awesome conditions!
Beautiful course!
This is a beautiful course very well laid out and easy to play. That being said there are a lot of challenges on every hole. Very scenic. Water on almost every hole. The bunkers are well placed. We had a great round of golf today!
Good day.
This was a hot deal so the value was great. I like the layout but they need hybrid tees combining gold and white. I can hit the ball fairly well for an old guy and don’t like playing gold. But especially this time of year there is no roll. Many of the par 4’s are long from the white tees. All in all it was a great day.
Greens were good. Fairways were very wet due to all the rain we’ve had
Thank you for playing Sea Trail.
We hope to see you back soon!
