Traditional Layout
When you are driving along the fairways as you make your way to the clubhouse parking lot your first impression might be Wow, the course looks great and this should be an easy round! Fairways are wide and most lies are flat. Pars and a few birdies enter your mind. Well, that description of the course is true, fairly easy tee shots on most holes and nice soft fairways. BUT, once you get on the green that is if your approach shot doesn't roll off, the really hard work starts. Greens are/were
F A S T and filled with subtle subtle breaks that went against the natural terrain. In addition they were on the smaller side with ridges that ran across large portions. In our group of mid 80s scorers the lowest score carded that round was a 93. All of the extra strokes were due to the greens trickiness. We really enjoyed the round and had a lot of laughs. Despite the scoring, the challenge was part of the fun. Will definitely go back soon. Course is situated in a beautiful valley too, so nice vistas.
A golf course away from urban traffic jams
Nice golf course, greens were in good shape. Due to recent rains, half the fairways were muddy and off limits to carts. Nice rural and scenic country views. beautiful sunsets, plenty of ponds and fair amount of bunkers. course is not flat, which makes it nice. mostly beautiful oak trees and a few pine trees on the golf course. Challenging if you play the tips.
one of the nicest feature of the golf course...free range balls, all you can hit.
Fabulous views
If you want to get away from the hustle bustle of Sacramento area, come up to auburn valley. It's quiet, country setting with breath taking views. The course is great and challenging. There is water features, bunkers with real sand, nice greens and various undulations on many fairways. This course is a Jewel in the foothills. I love playing here.oh, did I mention you get to hit as many practice shots as you want to warm up before your round, included in your fee.
Interesting old school course
A good variety in the holes, including both elevated tees and elevated greens. Modest amounts of water and bunkers. A very pretty setting, with a great variety of trees and bushes on the course.
One of the best!
I had an awesome round on this. I got a 12$ deal with cart. Course is in great shape but a little muddy due to the rain the day before. But overall i give this course next to 5 stars.
Some wide open holes, but challenging back 9
The course is fairly wide open with medium to small greens guarded by large bunkers. Greens are fast with multiple breaks, slopes and ridges. Fun too play but read the greens carefully.
Great course in the foothills.
Had a great time playing first time there. Beautiful challenging course with fast greens. Looking forward to going back. Played only 2 over my handicap.
Classic style golf course in nice condition
I like this 1960s era golf course. Nothing too dramatic about it, but the holes are fair, there is good variety to them, and there is a good amount of elevation change.
Enjoyable & challenging
Had a great day playing the course and will be back at some point.. Cost a terrific value.
thx

Marshall was the only challenge.
Great course. We booked our teatime using the GolfNow app. Paying $25 per person with a cart. Very friendly staff with the exception of Marshal. I am a new golfer. I do understand the etiquette at the game. We made the reservation As a twosome and were paired with a third. Super nice guy to be paired with. We told the pro shop I was new golfer and would be happy to let players behind Play-thru if I was holding them up. My third did not seem to mind the pace of play. After an hour and a half on the eighth hole we were approached by the Marshall and curtly asked to pick up our place. I felt like the pace was going fairly well. I picked up and did not play the next hole and the next two holes.so I didn't play three holes, and we never even received a thanks for the courtesy. Just to snarly look and he drove on. People in the pro shop are great! People in the café were great! Course was in good condition and had recently been aerated. Beautiful willows lining the fairways and gorgeous sunny day. The tee box location for the ladies was pleasant and fun to play from. Greens were slow from aeration but not so challenging that we didn't have a good time. I would highly recommend this course.
Green and well maintained
Have played here several times. Lots of ponds and lakes but not really in play much. Seem to veal natural springs as all wetlands are full even during drought. Range balls included in price makes things easier there also. A nice layout and fair test, but not too easy. Houses around but don't line fairways or come into play either.
First Time at Auburn Valley
Couldn't resist the offer to play Auburn Valley with my friends in Auburn and really enjoyed both the facilities and course. Course was in good condition (all things drought related considered) and we play in just over 4 hours. Golf Now price included range balls and lunch (hot dog & beer) but you could substitute a sandwich or another beverage if you wanted to. Look forward to play here again.
Really nice area
I went here a couple of weeks ago and it was kinda cool. Nice views and pretty green grass. But it was nothing special. A couple of hard holes will test you but mostly straight forward. Great staff too.
Good course that has a bit of everything
Like this course a lot. Good mix of flat and hilly fairways. Greens are in fantastic condition. Soft, but roll fast. Wouldn't know there's a drought out here with how well they keep the course up.
"Disappointed with this "Used To Be Private Course"
We had heard that this was a course that we would really enjoy, but was disappointed with the rough, bumpy condition of the fairway. Really bad, it felt like a uncomfortable ride at the Fair. We would not return.
Challenging but fun
Beautiful course. Not easy but not too difficult either. It has enough challenges to keep it interesting. Greens were fast and in very good condition. It was a very hot and humid day so unable to finish the full 18. Looking forward to a full round.
Classic Beauty
I consider Auburn Valley to be a dirty little secret. I hate to tell people about it, cause I don't want it over played, but they deserve the business. Reminiscent of a classic country club track. Great location off the beaten path. Fairways are fairly wide for the most part. The greens are not small, however they are super tricked up. If you can go out with a member who knows the breaks, cause you won't see them. Deer, bobcats, birds. Love this place.
Fun day out but a slow round
Course is in good shape greens are true and rolling well- pace of play was a bit slow but not too bad for a Saturday afternoon.
Beautiful day on a beautiful course
Auburn Valley is in great condition. Fairways in really nice shape as well as the greens which were fast as usual. Love this course because there are only 2 holes with homes. The rest of the holes are nestled in the rolling valley amongst trees and ponds. Very serene, scenic and enjoyable. Just you and Nature! I Love the course and play it often.
