The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Recommend playing this course
Cats are purring
Panther looks as good as Leopard. Course conditions were very good. Greens were excellent and I have no excuse for my poor putting efforts. Fairway sand traps and plenty of water made for an interesting challenge all the way round. Looks like whoever is running the place deserves kudos for being these courses back. They are now a very good value.
Now if they give me a cart with the right scorecard and a better pencil…

Rude check in
Haven’t played panthers since 2022. When I played in 2022 it was in such bad shape I was embarrassed since I had brought friends. I had heard the conditions had improved. The greens are ok now but the general course needs to be improved. Not sure the owner is budgeting enough. Great layout. Now to the rude check in. I am a Myrtle beach passport member. When I checked in I gave the customer service guy my passport that had my picture and my credit card. My credit card has a CID on the signature line. I told him the passport was an id. He became insistent that I show a drivers license. And would not accept the passport. He was totally rude and got my day started off badly. The starter was extremely friendly and so was the cart lady. From reading old reviews sounds like management needs to replace the check in person. I will be back to play tigers eye but not panthers or lions paw.

I understand there was some confusion at check-in regarding the policy of the discount book you were using at the time. That company's policy is to only give the full discount to the cardholder and a small upcharge to the guests of the card holder. This is done, as you can imagine, to promote more sales of their discount card, as it would be detrimental to their business model and, unfair to their current customers, if everyone received the same discounted rate, whether they had purchased the book or not. Greens are not in good shape
Understand that it’s winter but the greens are very ruff

Just had a huge rainfall day before. Course was still in great shape. Greens and fairways are nice. Fun layout. Play smart and hit straight will be a great day
