The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Nice layout, rough greens
Could be nice. Greens were generally pretty bad, had to allow players to move balls to avoid bare and bumpy spots. Some greens should be closed and redone entirely. Areas around greens also in poor condition. Hopefully they can fix it, overall a decent layout
Great course
Really nice course that needs time to get rid an invasive little weed on the greens. I would not let that stop you.

DISAPPOINTING
We played that course on a beautiful sunny and warm day. That’s the only thing that was beautiful. The conditions of the course could have been acceptable if it was not of the crappy greens. It is definitely not worth the money. There are other courses in the area that are in much much much better conditions like Sandpiper, Brunswick Plantation, Meadowlands, etc. Will not go back until the course, and specifically the greens, has been drastically improved. It’s too bad because the layout is nice. Years ago the big cats courses were so well maintained, not anymore!!!

I do not recommend this course presently just because of the greens conditions.
One is fast, the other one is slow etc…There are not in good shape.

Need some TLC
Nice layout but the greens are in terrible shape. They really need some TLC unfortunately. Fairways and tee boxes were OK. Found it expensive for the condition of the course. Will not go back before they improve the conditions of the greens.

Enjoyable game
My wife and I had a wonderful afternoon at Panther Run!
We enjoyed the layout, the wildlife, the beautiful houses, ponds and forests. The greens are in poor shape. The staff were friendly.

Pathetic
We arrived for our first tee time. They let me pay for the play, and then they told us we couldn’t play because of the dress code. My husband had jeans on. When I asked for a refund, they refused , he crumbled my receipt up, threw it behind the counter, and proceeded to say we only give rain checks.
When we returned yesterday to play, I was not going to give them the almost one hundred dollars it cost. We played, and the greens were the worst greens I’ve ever played in my life they were not only Sandy they were worse than Astroturf, diseased, absolutely horrendous.
Disappointed
Course was in poor condition, especially the greens which i would call un put table. Area of no grass. Tufts of what I would guess was rye popping up all over the dormant Bermuda greens. Ground fairly hard even with recent rains. Distance on cards and hole plaques didn't always correspond with reality. Not the first time I've played here and the same issues of maintenance. Won't be back
