The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Greens are in rough shape
Enjoy this course and the layout, greens are in pretty bad shape!

We apologize you happened to play during a time we are doings ome extensive renovation to the greens, but this type of work is necessary from time to time. We are offering our guests discounted rates and the option to play a different course during this renovation project. Fortunately, the greens will be improving daily and will be in very good condition again soon. We hope you will visit us again and see our progress.
FIX THE GREENS
Greens were horrible. Damaged and very bumpy. were told a lot were fixed by starter but every green had bad spots.

We are currently in the process of an extensive greens renovation project that will see these putting surfaces restored to their former glory very soon. The playing conditions are getting better daily and will be in very good overall condition soon. We hope you will visit us again and see our progress.
Disappointed
Staff very friendly, but course very disappointing, mostly due to conditions of green. Pro shop gentleman reduced greens fees by $10 and said greens had “some damage”. That was an understatement. Some greens had some large spots with bare dirt that was hardened like concrete. Other spots were so sparse that there was more dirt than grass. Forget trying to read a putt.Bunkers not in great shape, and some were hard pan. Tees not in great shape, but at least on-course restrooms smelled good. Likely never going there again. Nothing personal, just very poor conditions.

Greens under repair but great course
Greens are under repair and very bad condition. Fairways and tees are in great shape. It’s a beautiful course. Had a great time. Staff was very nice and helpful.
Greens were awful
Course staff gave us 1/2 off our booking price (thank goodness)! Tee boxes looked great, fairways were solid, but the greens were the worst I have EVER putted on. Greens were 0/10, hated we had to play on them.

The greens on this course were in poor condition
The fairways were in good condition, but the greens were terrible. The staff apologized before the round and told us they had lost the greens over the past few months. I feel like this will be a good course once they get the greens fixed.
Thank you for taking the time to review your round at Panther's Run. Yes, the conditions you described are very much temporary and related to a few unexpected factors. With improving weather conditions, the greens will also be rapidly improving. We are also taking extensive measures to prevent any similar occurrence in the future.
Poor Greens
Would be a good course if the greens were in better shape. Greens are bumpy, mottled and ball cannot roll true. Hope it improves in future.

Normally a fine place.- but greens in bad shape
This is course, and its siblings, always offer a fun round when we are down at the beach. But this round was disappointing- so many of the greens were in terrible condition. Bumpy, with burned out places, lots of brown and dried spots. Hope they can recover.
We deeply apologize for the conditions you described in your review. Due to an unforeseen set of circumstances, the bermuda greens on Panther's Run did struggle for a period of time. We have very aggressively treated all the conditions related to these issues and, fortunately, the greens have made great strides since your round was played. We fully expect these greens to be in very good condition as we move through the end of spring and into the summer months. I am assuming your group was offered one of the several options our staff has been instructed to make available to our guests during this temporary setback. Don’t waste your money.
I arrived to a frosty welcome in the Pro shop, not what I was expecting or appreciated. I tried to explain to the gentleman that a mistake was made on the booking as there was only one golfer playing. He ignored me despite me providing evidence of my booking through GolfNow, he just said he didn’t care what I had he went by his own screen. Subsequently I was charged twice for only one player playing.The course was In very poor condition and the greens were in bad condition. The pace of play was ridiculous with 3 matches on some holes! Speed of play was so slow on the back 9 that I drove in from the 12th. hole, the first time in 24 years of golf on the Beach.
Apparently the greens will be rebuilt in the near future and they need it.
We deeply apologize for the unsatisfactory conditions you described. The greens on Panther's Run have endured an outbreak of Poa Annua (as did many of the bermuda greens courses in our area) which required aggressive treatment. This type of treatment can also results in the greens not looking their best during the process. With the Poa Annua now under control, we are equally aggressively treating the weak areas to make sure these greens are once again in excellent condition for our guests. We hope you will visit us again and see our progress. Terrible Greens
Played a month ago, greens were okay then, but a in terrible condition now patchy and uneven

Played a month ago and greens were okay but lots of polanta and this time were unacceptable because of unevenness and ball wouldn't roll straight
Fantastic Layout
The staff are very friendly, especially the starter, Joe. The course layout , fairways and tee boxes are some of the best on the strand. Unfortunately, the greens are not up to the stsndard of the rest of the course. In time I'm sure they will improve.
