About
The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Panthers run
Fairways were airated no on mentioned that or I would have gone elsewhere. Greed were very along and super slow !!

This necessary procedure helps the overall health of the grass considerably, so it must be done occasionally. Our staff has been instructed to tell each and every guest about any such procedures prior to playing, so we deeply apologize if that was not the case with your group. Needs a little TLC
Greens were fuzzy, fairway and rough were not good on most holes. Tee boxes were not great. I think they keep the green a bit longer to protect from heat however tee boxes, rough, and fairways were bare and weed ridden.

First Impressions
Decent conditions considering it’s July. Fairways are hard and grass is going dormant with lots of sand to contend with. The layout is great and offers a challenge with several ways to compensate for bad hits. Staff is great. Will definitely come back when it’s cooler to compare conditions as no one can control the weather.

Solid Course
Good course for those who prefer wider fairways off the tee. Still a challenge, but forgiving.

I want to try the other "Cat" courses!
Course was okay but the fairways were sort of dried out / burned out in areas. Pace of play was not good on the front nine due to a 5-some in front of us who did not offer to let us play through given that we were just a twosome. Back nine pace was much better as we were able to jump around them at the turn. Staff were very nice.

Better conditions this month than a year ago
There’s apparently been more rain to help the turf than a year ago mid-June when I recall the staff said they hadn’t had rain in 50 days. A couple tees, some spots on greens and maybe one fairway were suffering, but a fun layout and worth supporting

Panthers Run, 1st time playing this course.
Staff was super friendly and , courae is layed out well. Score card could have been more informational about yardage to particular locations and needs more yardage markers that are visible. Some greens needed improvement but overall a nice course for the price during mid week.

Beautiful course, but tough to navigate and greens are horrible
The course itself is very nice, but it can be difficult to navigate. There are 4 courses between 2 clubhouses, so make sure you listen to the Starter on how to get to the correct course. They aerated all of the greens about 3 weeks ago, and they are in horrible shape. None of the staff notified us of this, so we were pretty shocked once we got to the first green. Overall, not a bad deal for this course during this time.

Just to clarify for anyone who might be playing our courses in the future, Lion's Paw and Panther's Run do operate out of the same clubhouse, but Tiger's Eye and Leopard's Chase each have a dedicated clubhouse. Friday Golf
Decided to play on a Friday before the rainy weekend but still got rained on. Checked a "Hot Deal" and went with Panthers Run. Enjoyed my round.
