The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

I want to try the other "Cat" courses!
Course was okay but the fairways were sort of dried out / burned out in areas. Pace of play was not good on the front nine due to a 5-some in front of us who did not offer to let us play through given that we were just a twosome. Back nine pace was much better as we were able to jump around them at the turn. Staff were very nice.

Better conditions this month than a year ago
There’s apparently been more rain to help the turf than a year ago mid-June when I recall the staff said they hadn’t had rain in 50 days. A couple tees, some spots on greens and maybe one fairway were suffering, but a fun layout and worth supporting

Panthers Run, 1st time playing this course.
Staff was super friendly and , courae is layed out well. Score card could have been more informational about yardage to particular locations and needs more yardage markers that are visible. Some greens needed improvement but overall a nice course for the price during mid week.

Beautiful course, but tough to navigate and greens are horrible
The course itself is very nice, but it can be difficult to navigate. There are 4 courses between 2 clubhouses, so make sure you listen to the Starter on how to get to the correct course. They aerated all of the greens about 3 weeks ago, and they are in horrible shape. None of the staff notified us of this, so we were pretty shocked once we got to the first green. Overall, not a bad deal for this course during this time.

Friday Golf
Decided to play on a Friday before the rainy weekend but still got rained on. Checked a "Hot Deal" and went with Panthers Run. Enjoyed my round.

Great golf course members need a check
Overall, had a great time playing golf here. When I arrived, the gentleman at the front desk gave me a good discount because of the course conditions so I’m not faulting for the overall state of the course based off the weather conditions. The greens were extremely slow, but it rained the day before so that’s understandable. The main reason I’m leaving a review is for the overall Attitude and pace of play that members give at this course. The members here are extremely rude and not only pick up your ball during play, but force you to skip holes because they feel pressed by people behind them. I’m glad that they live in the community and get to play every day or when they’re available but the overall attitude towards people who don’t belong is extremely unacceptable. I played golf for over five years now and never had an experience where a member Has made me feel less of a golfer than anything in my life. I would absolutely recommend mentioning this to your members as they are completely ruining the experience that your golf course delivers.

Great potential
Friendly and professionnal staff, great layout but Fairway harder Than concrete. Good for ego on drive but .. Greens are terribles, you Putt on mud with hair . Not saying This to be Mean but grass is the base of golf. Don’t blame it on the rain or the heat cause i played courses near with similar prices that were near perfect. It might be budget issues but It has to change or you are gonna lose customers. I repeat, It is a great place but needs love

Panther's Run (particularly the greens) have been in excellent condition over the past year, but the heavy snowfall in late winter, followed by the extreme drought we are in now has definitely caused some issues. We do not have access to any water other than rainfall to fill our irrigation ponds. Many courses in the area have underground water sources or access to effluent water, but we are totally beholden on Mother Nature to keep water in our ponds. Most of the time, that is not an issue, but in periods of extreme drought (On top of other weather-related issues) this can become challenging. Fortunately, forecasters are calling for a break in the drought in coming days and conditions will quickly improve at that point. We apologize again and hope you will give us another opportunity to better meet your expectations in the future.

Beautiful Course Terrible Grass
This place makes you feel like you are playing golf at Biltmore. Except their green’s keepers doesn’t know how to grow grass. The greens were black with lots of Poanna.

Scenic
This was our first time playing Panthers Run. Friendly staff, scenic course with nice layout. The greens were in terrible condition which is why I didn't give it a better rating.
