About
The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Amazing
Greens little slow due to the dew on grounds. Hole 18 was great!
Slow play
Played behind a group of 36. Took almost 6 hrs to play
Thank you for the very nice Four Star review of Panther's Run. We truly appreciate your patronage and your feedback. We deeply apologize for the slow play experience you described. This is the heart of our busy fall season and the courses can be full on certain days, causing play to be slower than on days when there are less players. Even so, approaching 6 hours is way beyond our expectations. I will look into this matter and we will take whatever steps necessary to try to improve this aspect of our operation. We hope you will visit us again and see our continued progress.
Single got paired up with a threesome. It took us 2 hours and only played 7 holes. Ranger told us to pick it up and nothing changed. Grabbed cart and played back 9 by myself. Tees beat up, see seed but not watering them. Northerner finding out you have to roll em everywhere every course I've played down here. Conditions don't even compare to public golf where I'm from for 15 more dollars more.
Overall, a great round. Beautiful course. Greens were true. A few bald spots did not affect the roll

Definitely play
First time playing here and will definitely play again. We were fortunate to play when there was low attendance. This made the pace of play very nice. The condition of the course was excellent. Played with my son who doesn’t play much so it was challenging but also with some forgiveness. Fairways were not to tight but water is a definite hazard that can come into play.. All things said we will be back.

Panthers Run
Course was in great shape. Played it a couple years ago and the greens seem to be a lot nicer now. Only played the front 9 yesterday. Tough in the wind definitely a ball strikers course. I will be back!

Great course
The layout and condition of the course was really good. There were a few spots on the greens but never effected play. My only criticism was the greens were fairly slow. Having said that they rolled very true. Definitely one of the nicer courses in the area.

Steadily improving!
Panthers run gets better and better each time I return. My only complaints are fairways and par 3 tee boxes.
Good course
The course layout was great. The recent rains coursed the fairways to over grow. The greens were slow but true, again maybe beyond the recent rain. Leopard is a better course in my opinion having played both.

The course is still dealing with the after effects of Tropical Storm Debbie. The greens were in great shape albeit on the slow side. It seemed they were just mowing the fairways for the first time since the storm. Tee boxes were all pretty rough. I will return in a couple of weeks as I believe the course will be much improved.
