About
The 18-hole Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1994. Designed by Tim Cate, Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation measures 7089 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 73.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda.
Panther's Run was born to be a different kind of challenge than Lion's Paw. Golf course designer Tim Cate has unleashed this cat to prowl along the edge of a natural preserve and continually tests your ability to stay out of, or hit over, the surrounding marsh land. Wide fairways that twist and turn with a variety of elevations, plus scenic water features blend perfectly.
The front nine picks its way through hardwood forest while the back nine is more open. The course is laid out along the edge of a natural preserve and tests golfers' ability to negotiate the surrounding marsh land and water. The fairways twist and turn and show a variety of elevations, as much as 60 feet in fact.

Nice course but the greens were awful.
I've played this course 10 different times through the years and this was by far the worst shape I've ever seen the greens. They were patchy, what appeared to be 3 levels of grass. Was truly hard to putt with any consistency.
The staff was great and I've always enjoyed the the other courses too. Just sad to see this good courses greens so bad. Hopefully they'll get it back right soon!
Nice course and friendly staff
I was a single but the course paired me up with a great group of guys to play with. Had a great time playing with them. Course was in good shape and pace of play was good.

My first review ever
Tee’d off 10 min late, took 2 hrs and 40 min to play the front nine and 5 hrs and 30 min overall. The ranger told us it was busy lol. It was so slow that the two groups of women in front of our foursome dropped 3 players at the turn and played as a fivesome and never lost ground to the group in front of them. Brutal. And the greens were patchy and inconsistent for this time of year.
We deeply apologize for the slow play issue you described below. As this is the height of our busiest season, play can sometimes be slower than ideal, due to the large volume of players on the course, many of whom might be playing the course for the first time. Our course marshals are instructed to try to keep play moving at a good pace, but sometimes this can be difficult, due to many factors. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about this issue. Fabulous Course
Course in great condition for this time of year. Everyone made the day run smooth.
Missing informations
Missing distance marker in fairway.
Lots of water and no distance marker indication to water.
Some green were in bad shape

Overall a great experience
The course was in pretty good shape. It had rained heavy the day before and we were restricted to cart paths. The greens and fairways were nice for this time of year. Would definitely play it again

We did overseed them with Poa Trivialis this winter and they were very nice for months, but they are going through the natural short-term transition brought on by the quick warm-up of the weather this year.
