Well Maintained Gem
We so enjoyed our first round at Cheraw State Park. So many very pretty holes. Front tees were female friendly. Greens were lightning quick but in great shape. Would only ask the maintenance crew or pro shop crew make sure there is water in all of the water jugs. It was 100 degrees today and one hole had only one keg and it was empty.
WoW to say the least
Played & reviewed this course a few years ago. This course has had a complete turn around. I met Superintendent Chris while out on the course. He was such a knowledgeable guy and you can tell he is putting his pride behind this place! Greens were the best around the area. Rolled very true! Kudos to the golf course staff.
Cheraw State Park A real hidden gem!!!
understandably wet due to recent rain but always fun to play....always nice to play without seeing a house or adjacent fairways.... a joy to play and always top notch staff and value!
Best greens I’ve played in a long time
Through the years I have played this course about twice a year and they replaced the greens last year year with tift eagle greens. Y’all, they are as close to perfection as you can get... very firm but perfect. The rest of the course always seems to be in good condition if you are in the fairway. Staff in the clubhouse... awesome, bought a pullover and he cut it 25% and threw in 2 buckets of golf balls. The range was extremely nice and great grass to hit of of..... We live about 7 hours away and we play on very nice courses all over Ga. and nothing else has been close to having greens this good.
Great golf course
The course is always in great shape. Great value for your money and the scenary isn't that bad either. Always a nice quiet and fun round of golf.
Go to place to escape winter
Great course, staff here are so nice you wont believe it! Clubhouse has an awesome atmosphere with pro shop, pool table and clubhouse sandwiches with drinks. Top notch practice facility and putting green. Course is challenging and fun. The layout is very secluded in a woodsy state park with a few holes that view the lake. Very comfortable area. We stay a week every spring to escape the winter up north. Highly reccomend.
Just really enjoy playing this course. Most of the time the course is not overly crowded and the rate of play is good. Some of the holes were cart path only. This is totally understandable due to the amount of rain that we are continuing to receive. It is a fun course to play and is well maintained.
Today was a great day for golf. The weather was great and the course was not crowded. I had a good round for me. I always enjoy playing at this course and would recommend anyone to give it a try.
Good course, but needs rangers
Good course. You can tell they’ve had a ton of rain this year. Bunkers were flooded and unplayable. The greens are very healthy and a touch slow.
The biggest problems for this place are:
- There wasn’t no ranger presence anywhere
- There were more clowns on this course than I’ve ever seen. Guys screaming, blasting music from their carts, an EIGHTSOME I got behind, etc... it’s really a shame. The course was enjoyable, but these issues listed above really need to be fixed.
Cheraw golf course
One of the nicer golf courses that I play out of many courses. Staff is very friendly and the course conditions are always good and the greens run true
This place needs a starter and ranger. Foursomes not keeping pace of play. Fivesomes out there in the course. It’s a beautifully golf course but it took 2 people 4 hours to play 12 holes and we left. It’s been like that the last few times I have played, solo. I love the place and the people, but hate the pace of play!
SIMPLY EPIC
First off- WOW!!! Better than most private clubs in the Carolinas- & for the cost- may just be the best deal for a round of golf on the East Coast!!! Played it today & we were pretty much the only golfers out there after Winter Storm Diego pounded the surrounding areas with snow & freezing rain. Course was still in fantastic shape - absolutely tranquil setting with some gorgeous lakefront holes on the back 9. Play here- you're welcome! Love this track'- had a great chat with the head pro Brick also- great guy!!! Can't wait to return- JP
Southeast of Charlotte Bargain
This State Park is a jewel and bargain. Bunkers are not very good and full of rocks, but the layout is both beautiful and challenging.
Golf groups on their way to Myrtle Beach stop here often to break up their trip.
Hidden gem
A little off the beaten path but that’s good. A very enjoyable round in the quite of a state park. Course conditions were excellent. The rough could be a little penal but shouldn’t it be? Definitely returning.
