beautiful
we had a great time it was a beautiful day can't wait to come back
A hidden gem
This was our 3rd buddies trip to this course, the staff is awsome, the course is a hidden gem. The greens were perfect and the views from some of the tee box's are amazing over looking the lake. If you get a chance play this course you will be back again.
Great value
This was definitely one of those "for the price let's give it a try" - WOW, what a great deal on a superb course! The course is challenging at all levels either the different tee boxes. The layout was excellent and with the two nines being very different it kept you totally engaged. Located within a state park it was unlike so many courses hear days that are tucked within the confines of a development.
The staff was exactly what you'd expect from southern hospitality - outstanding.
The day we played they had a couple of large groups ahead of us that slowed things down considerably, at the turn they gave us the option to replay the front and then play the back when it would be more open. Turned a slow day into a great round of 27 holes.
The course was in great shape; greens excellent, fairways coming in nicely for this time of year, tee boxes were a little beat up due to the transition grass but with a little rain they'll be excellent soon.
Will play this course every time I'm in the area - discounted rate or not - still a great deal.
This course is in excellent condition all the way around. The layout is really nice and it is worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. One of the best I have played on. Can wait to play again.
Cheraw State Park
Course was in great shape and have never seen the greens this good so early in the season. Staff couldn't be any nicer and made you feel they were happy to have you there.
Great Course
You couldn't ask for a better day to play golf. Low 70's partly cloudy and great greens. I mean perfect greens. Played this course a few times and it's seems to just get better every time. Drove about 45min and it was more then worth it.
Not to Shabby
Grab this round on a deal, good little old course. Won't be disappointed. Will play again.
Cheraw State Park GC
One of the best courses I've ever played. Way off the beaten path but worth the drive from I-95 or I-20. Very nice clubhouse and checkin was easy, proshop attendant very cordial and gave me perfect directions. Course today was not very crowded, it was Super Bowl sunday, teed off at 12:30 and was back on the road at 4 PM. Course layout very straight forward and in front of you except for #7 and #13 which is an awesome hole. I had read the other reviews and new to play left center if possible but for some reason I thought the right side was the way and it wasn't, blocked out for second shot by trees to a semi dogleg right where the green is the only part of the dogleg. #13 is an awesome sweeping dogleg left par 4 where I had to 3 wood for second shot to the green. Conditions were great for the dormant grass this time of the year. Tee boxes pretty beat up but since the grass is not growing right now its understandable. Cart paths are rough due to tree roots but OK but jarring at times, you could always drive slocwer. Greens were great and smooth and medium speed, I was able to hole quite a few putts inside 10 feet. Must play if local of course or travelling through area as I was!
Best I have ever seen it
I have been playing this course for 20 years and this is the best it has ever been. The work that the staff has put in on greens and around the course has made it one of the best in South Carolina for public courses. If you drop this course in Pinehurst Area you would pay easily 100.00 to play it.
Great Course to Play
This is a well maintained course and the staff is extremely friendly. Beautiful place to be outside. Wish I lived closer.
Great lil course
It had been 18 or 19 yrs since I had played this course. It did not let me down after all that time. The course was in just as good, if not better shape, than it was back in the late 90's...I will definitely play here again in the future.
A great find !!
This is a hidden gem. From the people who run the course, to the overall condition of the course, to the prices of articles for sale in the pro shop, I have no negative comments about playing golf at Cheraw ....
Course in excellent condition.
Was very surprised to find a course in such great condition with almost no one playing. We played at a comfortable pace as 75 year old men and finished in four hours. Only saw one twosome during our entire round. Well worth the effort and drive to get here.
Beautiful & Scenic
First time playing this course and was very impressed with everything. Just like all the other reviews state, it is beautiful and scenic. Plenty of opportunity to get into the shade when needed. Fairways and greens were in terrific condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Fun
I drove 2 hrs to play the course should tell how much I looked forward to play here. Now for the review. First they had a hard rain the night before and some of the holes were so wet you could not drive on them. Second some of the green were not in the best shape but it didn't hurt the putting. Other then that if you want to play on a beautiful course you must this one.
Loved it!
One of my favorite courses; definitely worth the drive. Awesome course, friendly staff, beautiful scenery.
Cheraw state park golf course
Course was overall in great shape
The greens had recently been plugged but that's understandable
Great course for the cost
Hidden Gem
Great course, great views and friendly staff. Allowed my son to play for free. Used golfnow and paid $16.
