Cheraw State Park Golf Course

Played in early April. Fairways and greens were not ready in good condition from winter season.
We were two-some, played (5-hr) behind a four-some who refused to let us played thru. No ranger was around.
Otherwise, great course and good for the money.

Over the years I have played this course when returning to town. Every year I hope to find it in great condition and every year it is always the same... Great layout, one of the prettiest courses that you will ever play, but the greens have never been good, not even close to being good.... Dirt with a little grass and for whatever reason it's always the same! I love the challenge of this layout, bunkers and fairways are fine... It is all about the Greens! They are terrible, and it's been this way for years

Staff was super friendly, as well as everybody we encountered. Had to take a star off for the greens, but really they were very playable. Time of year means fairways not in yet, course plays long (or I'm gettin' shorter). I'm sure in a week or two they will be 5 star. Overall really cool, we played 45 holes in 2 days. Have fun.

The greens are in horrible condition right now. They allowed someone to cut them in a circular pattern and it looked like they done it while they were wet.

I really enjoyed playing here. However, with a lot of rain previous days, most of the sand bunkers were full of water. Also, the pace was extremely slow. Took almost 3 hours to play the front & another 2.5 hours to play the back.

I enjoyed playing the course for the first time. I well definitely well play this course again but I would love to play it in the spring time.

I've played this course many times through out the years. This golf course is on a serious decline. The greens were very poor and outdated, wouldn't recommend to anyone. I hope this course survives

I have always enjoyed this course. It is always in good shape, even when it is not perfect.

This course was in excellent conditions especially nice and green even though we are in a dry spell in South Carolina. Greens are great and fairways are wide and inviting.

This is a great course, I just wish it were closer to me. I didn't realize they had just aerated the greens like four days earlier, oops. Other than that, the course was in great shape even after a few days of rain. Great course, lots of fun, and super friendly staff.

I was a single and the pro shop guy let me start on 10 so I wasn't stuck behind a big group... I cruised, only saw 3 other groups all day. Played in 2 1/2 hours. Will come back again, and will bring friends when they're in town.

Played the course with 3 friends. We were well satisfied with conditions of course. Greens rolled well, fairways plush, and rough playable.

Beautiful, well-kept course within Cheraw State Park. The fairways were well-groomed and the greens were in great shape. Not much in the way of water hazards on the course, but there is enough sand to keep the course from being too easy. No worry about having balls from other tee boxes or fairway hits coming your way either! The course is really spread out so you either want a cart or will get a LOT of exercise!

Course is in great shape. With the views and toughness of the course you definitely get your money's worth.

Fairways too wet and muddy. It had rained the night before but sprinklers were going when we arrived and during play. Water in bunkers.

Scenic in every manner, coupled with good value for the fees yields a very fun day for a group of 8 guys!

Raining when I arrived and course agreed to let me play in the morning while keeping the same rate. Excellent service!

Course is very playable, challenging, yet not very difficult to score. Beautiful views throughout this course.. Highly recommend!

Drove one-and-a-half hours to play since playing the initial time last December.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice staff in the Pro Shop. It was our first visit, & they took the time to answer all our questions. The course was in great shape, & all the golf carts were in excellent condition. The course took us thru all the pines, and the holes on the lake are well done with some awesome views. There are cabins located within the park, and when we were done with our round, the Pro took the time, and printed out an information sheet for us. We can't wait too return!

Played here last summer(2013) in the sweltering South Carolina July heat. Lots of shade and cool drinks. We wanted to come back again so we made a return trip this week(April) during my wifes spring break. What a great layout, hills, winding fairways and large pines. The scenery is great, the staff is super and the course was in great shape other than a few greens had been topdressed. Considering the ice storms we had this winter the conditions were fine. Not the hardest course, but long enough and plenty of traps. A few lake views as well makes this a worthwhile trip if you're in the Cheraw area.

returned to this course after playing there 4 years ago. welcomed at the pro shop like an old friend returning. the manager, brick hyduke, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. he came out to the range and gave my wife a tip about her swing which had immediate results. the course conditions were very good considering the time of year and the harsh winter they had. in my opinion, it is important for the state park to provide enough funds to maintain this facility for it is a hidden gem. there is evidence of deteriating turf on the fringes of the course and some rough cart paths which is likely a result of maintenance budget cutbacks.this is to be expected to some degree as it reflects the state of the golf industry everywhere. that been said, it would be a shame to see this excellent course suffer. I would recommend this course to all and am looking forward to going back soon.
