Great course in the country.
This course is in the best shape I have seen in years. Other than slow play, it was a great day.
Great Bargin!
The course is a great play for your hard earned money!! Check it out. You will not be disappointed!
Excellent Value
Great price for the very nice course!
Perfect day
Booked tee time last minute on way back North from Myrtle Beach. First time I have played it in the spring, usually in late October or November. Highly recommend to play in the spring. Always was impressed by the course beauty and layout, but was never in great condition. Much different in the spring. Worth finding.
Came here specifically to golf
We thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. The greens were not in the best shape, but the overall experience was awesome. It was a walk thru the woods, peaceful and quiet and we are glad we made the trip.
Cheraw State Park in April
The course was in very good condition for the time of year. Only one green was under repair and it was only a small section. The greens were a dark green and smooth. The course was alittle crowded and some holes it is tough to see where the group in front of you is so you can't tee off of hit your second shot on some holes without driving up to see exactly where they are. Overall though a good course to play for all golfers.
Spectacular gem at SC-NC border
We stopped by this course on our way home to RI from FL in February. We had heard about this course in Myrtle beach last spring...it is a very worthwhile stop on the way home. Very inexpensive, a great layout and very good conditions, even for February. The course was is quite good condition, but a little soft from rains earlier in the week. A very challenging layout, with several tremendous views, including that long dogleg par 4 on the back side with the elevated island green from a steep downhill approach shot...no really it IS a par 4!
We understand there is overnight lodging at some of the cabins located in the State Park associated with the course, I'd like to check them out on a future visit.
Great value for the $
Play Everyday
One of the best conditioned and valued courses I've ever played! Love it!
Wonderful course
It was a pleasure to play this golf course again. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were fast and running well.
Great course
Great course! I try to play it as often as possible. I live two hours away but it is well worth the trip.
Must Play Cheraw State Park
This is a gem of a course. Its currently in excellent shape. Greens roll true at a just above medium speed (9 stint?). Fairways excellent condition. Fairway Bunkers & thick rough make Cheraw an above avg challenge if not hitting fairways. Sandhill terrain with spruce and other various evergreens skirting Lake Juniper provide some great views. A must play in fall months. Guess thats why the staff answer the phone with "Its beautiful day at Cheraw State Park.
Great for views and play
Great place to hit range balls and golf. The greens are the best they've been in years and they are constantly improving. For this time of year are excellent. Some of the bunkers are somewhat clay, but these are being redone as well. It is spread out, but like that you don't see many people
Great Setting, Great Golf Course
This state park golf course is back in excellent condition! The greens are smooth and rolling at a good speed. The tees, fairways, and the general housekeeping are the best in years. Kudos to the staff for great customer service.
Best kept secret
The greens were a little sandy but other than that it was great. Best kept secret in the state. Beautiful course and scenery.
Great Course
Overall a great value. Greens were in great shape, as were fairways. Pace of play was great - 3 hour round. If liked the layout. Very friendly staff. I will play here again.
Hot day in July.
The golf course had just vert-cut the greens that caused them to be bumpy and slow, although not sure they would ever be real speedy or smooth.. The fairways were in great shape with a good mat to hit off of, and the sand traps were all raked with good sand. Staff friendliness was excellent and enjoyed spending some time after the round talking golf. Over all had a good time and enjoyed my round.
Overall a great course.
The course was in good shape except for the greens, they need some work done to them. Still love to play it though, it's a good challenge, but not overly hard.
Greens in poor condition
I have played this course many times over the years and was all ways a beautiful course. Played it Saturday and was very disappointed course had a lot of dormant places and most greens were just about in playable. This course in in real decline I don't think I will be returning no time soon.
Cheraw State Park Golf Course Neglected
Cheraw State Park Golf Course is an outstanding layout carved from a Longleaf Pine forest. The rates are quite reasonable and the course is georgeous. That is if you don't include the greens and bunkers. The greens are in dire condition with many bare patches of sand. The bunkers are also in poor condition. Come on South Carolina you have a quality facility wasting away from poor maintenance.
