Great Improvements
New ownership is resulting in the return of a great course and atmosphere.
Rio Pinar
Perfect day to golf although I didn’t play well it was a walk in the park
Great improvement since the last time
This always a favorite. The course have a lot of history and deserve the work and money invested in. Once the practice areas are done and a couple of other things around the course, it will be back to a 5 stars ✨
Having fun
With the course undergoing a face lift. it was in great condition. I couple greens still need some attention, but all in all great day to play.
kudos
My group decided to see how the renovations
were coming along. The knew owner is
pouring money and manpower into the course.
All 18 greens were excellent.
I was in 4 bunkers and the sand was just right with 2 rakes in each bunker . New bunkers are still under construction. The carts have GPS
with 2 bottles of water and ice. Practice range still under construction.
Two small suggestions: Put a sign on the road for bag drop. Increase the speed of the gps fencing for rough areas from 3mph to 6 mph. I can walk 4 mph. Keep it up !! ck.
Course being worked on and needs it
I rarely make a post this negative, but as I read reviews before playing courses I always hope I’m reading an accurate review. I’ll start by saying it has been about a year since I’ve been to Rio Pinar and I can see that work is being done on the course as well as inside the building and I foresee the course getting much better.
What I experienced was most of the course in poor shape; tee boxes with very little grass, fairways with multiple bare spots, and several greens with large sand areas in/on them.
I might come back in a few months to see if things have improved, but for now I cannot recommend the course.
Great day!
My Father and I have been coming down to Orlando for the past 15 years and Rio Pinar has been a staple on our golfing itinerary. Due to travel restrictions this was our first time back after a 2 year hiatus. Obviously, some well needed funds have been invested back into this property. Last time played the facilities and course were showing signs of neglect. A massive update to the pro shop and restaurant are impressive along with course improvements to bunkering and overall ascetics are noticeable. Fun course layout and reasonable green fees will have us returning in the future. Well done Rio Pinar!
Great progress!
I can see the $ they are putting into the course and facilities. A work in progress, but much appreciated. Their new dining and meeting facilities are some of the best among golf course properties around this part of Orlando. When everything is complete, a 5 ☆ for sure.
Getting Better and Better
Well, my game is still the same, but this course is improving each time I go there. The driving range is not ready yet, but will be excellent with ball tracking once complete. The restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, l left my sand wedge on a green and haven't recovered it. The good news was how helpful and friendly the staff was in assisting me. They lent me a cart to go back over the course to find my club. No luck though. I will definitely be back.
Rio Pinar
Slow play because we were behind a foursome who were using range finders and couldn’t hit the ball 25 yards. Finally got around them at the turn and play moved along better.
won't be back.
1. played here 5 or 6 X over the years. (from Philly, been playing ALL orlando courses for 30 years), & it was ok to play here for a 'no stress' round amongst other rounds on the more challenging courses. This time was my last.
Even @ $39 total (gnow).
I'm not saying don't go. just that don't expect anything more than a local muni.
I had a problem w/ how they handled a situation, which is to long to describe fully -- having to do w/ being a single. but forcing me to play behind 3 senior SLOW groups.
Then, there's their carts, which are maddening. If you stray out of their zone. they auto to 3 mph. nothing you can do until it detects you're back. like looking for a ball in the trees along the fairway. There's more. All I can say to mgt. is that alone would keep me away. Maybe it's working.
Great Round at Rio Pinar
Had a very fun round and the course is in great shape. The bunkers are improved with nice sand since my last vacation. The GPS cart issues from other reviews have been addressed and function well. The new pro shop location and building upgrades are excellent. Staff is very helpful and provided bottled water. The driving range is closed for improvement. I've played many times and will return.
