About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Ok course
Ok for the money. Conditions ok. Rented clubs for $20 but were not good. Pace was a bit slow. Condition ok.
First time. Great public course.
It was as a hot NOVA day but had a great experience on this course. Lots of blind shots but will know better next time. I will go back.

Not worth it
This was only my second time playing at this course but I can honestly say that I won't be back anytime soon. The pace of play was so horrible. The overall conditions of the course were just fine. It was just so backed up that I had to cut my round short. I was even playing as a single and there was no opportunity for me to even play through because of the amount of groups in front of me going so slow. I have never quit in the middle of a round before but I found myself waiting 15 minutes to tee off at every par 3 and the short par 4's. This was not a pleasant experience and there are plenty of other courses in the area that are better or just a good.

A course in great shape
I've played this course several times a year over the past four years. The layout is solid and it has a chill, no frills vibe. Over the past year, they've stepped up their game. The conditions are much improved. No, it's not a country club but it's excellent for a public course. The staff is more cordial. Pace of play is better too. Somebody somewhere has made some good management decisions and/or put some money into course conditioning and operations -- and it shows. It's a quirky course with a few odd holes but they are doing what they can to make the most of what they have. It's becoming one of the better courses in the area, which I'm reticent to say, since it means the crowds will come, and it'll be difficult to keep whatever balance they've found in making Pohick a secret gem and great place to play golf.

Course looks great
Played here yesterday and the course was in the best shape I have ever seen it. The greens were rolling fast and true especially for a public course. The fairways and bunkers were all in great shape. We enjoyed the new tips tee boxes as the course played longer and more challenging. We would like to see the scorecard updated with the new yardage and course rating with the added length. Great price point too at $72 in the morning on a weekend. Seems you can’t find a decent course on the weekend for under $100 these days.
Overall it was a great outing and will definitely be back!

Not impressed, but not too disappointed
There were a few things I found annoying when I arrived at this course. First off, the lady in the pro-shop was not friendly at all. It was not until I checked in that I had learned that the range was closed due to an equipment issue. I had asked about a beverage cart on the course and was told there was not one but the grill would be open by the time I was at the turn. I asked for a few beers for my friend and me but was told it’s a 2 beer limit per 9. When I returned to the club house at the turn, the only food available was a hotdog and they were not taking any food orders.
The course itself was nice and I enjoyed the layout a lot. The rough was very long and although you may see exactly where your ball landed, you may not find it when you get there due to the tall grass.
