About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Course condition and price
Love the staff there. The price is not worth it considering the amount of pitch marks that are untouched/healed. MANY pitch marks on the green. Fairways are ok in spots but very bad in others. I understand it’s middle of the summer but it looks the same as it does during peak condition. Overall not worth a whopping $70.

Great place amazing staff
First off cleanest bathroom out of any golf course I’ve ever golfed at. Besides that great staff, great course, I’ll be back.

Fun round!
Starter was able to get me out early by pairing me up with a twosome. We are all ex military so we bonded easily. The recent rains have helped Pohick Bay as well as most other courses. Greens were great (except for unrepaired ball marks), fairways had grown in well. Even the bunkers were in good shape, althoughI haven’t practiced since we were told during Covid not to play from the bunkers. We finished in 3.5 hrs. I like the layout a lot - many doglegs and elevation changes. I’m usually able to find an inexpensive tee time on Golf Now, so for the money it’s one of the more interesting and well kept courses in the area for a very reasonable price.

Almost All Good
Played 18 with my spouse. We were paired with another couple that both had good game/swings, and we teed off on time. Pohick has added landing area targets (greens) to the driving range, the bathrooms have been re-done and conditioning is improved. Management has also added new forward tee boxes on several holes. My wife gets an obscene advantage there. Pohick is doing lots of things right. I would recommend it to anyone, but I don't want it to become more popular.
The usual bummers apply: un-filled divots (I use the divot mix, but there has been the occasional time that it was not on the cart or empty), unfixed ball marks, trash that missed the garbage can etc.
