Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Almost got nailed on the first hole by the group behind us. Starter told them they could tee off when we were about to hit our second ball. Unacceptable, group apologized they could not see us up ahead. Starter should have known we just hit our first ball at our start time. Lots of hills where you can not see the group in front of you. Dangerous course because of hills and golf cart path conditions. Very bumpy and crappy cart. Felt like we were off roading.

Too early in the season to play this course
The condition of the course is fair at best. the greens are very sandy, and fairway grass has not fully grown yet. plus there ware many casual waters around the course due to the rain this past week.

Cost too much for the courses conditions and time of year

James, the starter, and Bob, the counterman, provided excellent service
My partner and I were treated royally. Inclement day broke as we teed off at 10:00. Finished 18 in under 4 hours. Recommend riding cart as many up & down hills. Hate the the par 5 over the water on the back nine, as it forces two shots to lay up for a 200 yard 3rd shot over water to the green. Too many balls can't carry the water.
Would be nice if the starter and Marshall actually did their job . Round took almost 5 hours

Gorgeous course, great layout
I really loved this course my first time out. Very different to a lot of the DC area courses with tight parkland fairways and some really extreme doglegs. The greens were in great shape and surprisingly fast for the winter. I'll definitely be back!

Pohick
Great course with the best driving range around the area. Challenging on some holes for sure and makes you utilize your clubs and lay up a few times. Greens are in great shape but very slow and difficult to judge.

Amazing golf course and Wonderful staff
Golf course is very good design. Very popular for many golf in the area. Staffs are wonderful and absolutely friendly. Also only $25 for replay, let’s do 36 holes everyday
The course look great on autumn colors
With the course looking beautiful on autumn colors, course played difficult for me. Maybe could have played a bit better though. The tees need TLC. Staff friendly. I would have wanted more control of the groups starting on the first tee so as not to get groups pact together on the 2nd hole.
