The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Course is in good shape and has some great views. Good layout and some challenging holes. Front 9 greens were better than back 9 but they were still pretty good

This course is under major repair

New sprinkler system being installed, so the fairway and area around the greens were in rough shape. Bunker looked like they hadn't been racked in weeks. Greens were poor, slow bumpy and lots Dead of dormant grass.

Fun course - greens were in rough shape.

I really enjoyed this course, there are some fantastic holes however, the greens were in rough shape, a little shaggy and slow.

There are some truly spectacular views, if the greens were in better shape, I would definitely offer a five star review. Even so, I would return here to play, it was a very fun day.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, in particular the backdrop staff were outstanding.

Well, worth the price.

Great Layout

Old South is a fun golf course with a lot of great holes. The greens were a little shaggy which made them extremely grainy and they were slower (8 stimp) than I would like.

No marshall meant the pace was a little slow but not terrible.

All-in-all, I would play Old South again.

Great shape for this time of year!

Enjoyed my round there. Most everything was good.. I was a caddy growing up and learned to rake traps as proper etiquette on the course. Some holes did not have a rake to do what was necessary to repair the sand. My only complaint.

Great round and layout

Greens were a little slower than I would have expected, but I got used to hitting it a little harder.

Layout was fun. I played with a couple that knew the course and I think that saved me several strokes from not seeing trouble or angles you just can’t pickup from the tee.

Thanks to Gord and Mary!
