The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Great shape in late November

The course was in fantastic shape as usual, but was in really good shape for late November. I do recall that there were more bunkers? It appears that some have had sand removed and turned into grass swails?

You are correct! Several bunkers have been removed and grassed in to soften some of the more difficult holes. This helps the average golfer have a more enjoyable day and keeps pace of play on track. We look forward to seeing you at Old South again.

Greens were a bit slow but otherwise great course. Very windy and told that is frequent because of location near the marsh - perhaps why they call it a "Links" course.

The course is in immaculate condition. Very generous fairways for the most part. The wind was up and made the seaside? holes very challenging. Three of us played 18 in under 3 hours. There were some very wet spots that may have been over watered. Very good greens, fast and tricky. Highly recommend Old South.

Guys from Pittsburgh

The course was in great shape. We started in the fog and played the first four holes not really knowing where to go, but the course was beautiful and played fair. It had a couple of tricked up holes which made it challenging and okay.

I would play it again.

Nice track. Then oversees tees and greens med a mow.

Nice layout with good pace of play. The overseed tees were shaggy. And the greens were also slow. Otherwise pretty good.
