Located less than an hour east of San Francisco, the Course at Wente Vineyards sprawls across the lush, rolling hills of Livermore Valley. Greg Norman carefully crafted the golf course, creating one of northern California's most challenging layouts. The course incorporates three different landscapes: woodlands, grassy meadows, and mature vineyards. All throughout the golf course though, golfers will be faced with dramatic elevation changes that cause tricky uneven lies but that also means there are panoramic views to be enjoyed on almost every hole. The fairways and landing areas are narrow and require good club management. The prevailing winds add another challenging element to the course. The Course at Wente Vineyards' back nine holes are more demanding with the par 3s being especially memorable. It is a tough but fair round that will reward proper club selection and strategy.

Incredibly scenic course, pricey but totally worth it!

To say this course is scenic is an understatement. It is absolutely breathtaking. The course layout is very interesting and challenging with lots of dramatic elevation changes and strategically placed hazards so you shouldn't always hit driver. Greens were in good shape despite lack of recent rain. Hit it into the vineyards and you typically can still play, but you'll be hitting down the rows and dodging bees/wasps in warm weather. Walking this course would be a workout, especially the "Lombard Street" cart path between the 9th and 10th holes. It is a bit pricey but this is Wine Country in NoCal - nothing is cheap here.

Panoramic Golf Course!

Beautiful golf course amongst hills and vineyards. The course is in great shape considering the time of year. Greens were putting true. Bunkers were nicely raked. Staff was friendly. I will definitely play it again.

Lovely day

From the dramatic opening hole, this is a tremendous layout. fair and rewarding. It wasn't windy with us but see how it could be. I enjoyed the round except that they sanded the greens without punching them making them very slow...completely different from the practice green which rolled very fast. I was dissapointed that this wasn't pointed out by anyone from the pro shop on down. it was like they were trying to pull one on us. Some drivable par4's and reachable par 5's in 2.It was also unfortunante that there was no cart service or on course amenities. Its a long round without anything to drink or eat. I'll be back when the course plays true. It would be a fun test.

when you pay full price, and no one warns you about sound all over every green, it is bordline fraud

was never told while booking reservation and was never told while paying that there was sand all over ever green made putting impossible.

It is sad that a high quality golf course does not think it is relevant to tell people that the greens are unplayable.

When you pay full price of 149 and cannot put on the greens it is unacceptable.

Wente is superb

Wente has everything you would want. Great conditions, good layout, great service, awesome views, and good old fashion fun. I will be back again in the very near future. Its a bit of a hike coming from the peninsula but worth it.

Wente Its about the money!

Not a great experience at Wente. This course is all about making money not about the true golfing experience. There is good chance after you arrive at the course you may be in for shock when you find out they want an additional 60.00 for a cart fee. I left and played Callippe Preserve which is a true course with a great staff who appreciate your patronage. Stay away from Wente.

Vineyard golf

Great condition , a few have to put a hole here , blind shots are so tough the first time you play. My wife and I did not rely on scores to enjoy the course . Elevation changes are also tough the first time .. The biggest surprise, the main Wente Restaurant our meal was not very good . Great service , at the bar . The Crispy Duck in Blue Chees and Cherry I think , was awful . My Double cut Pork chop was so so .. Chicken in corn chowder was a bit salty .

Immaculate Scenic Course

Wente is the most beautiful and challenging golf course in the San Francisco Bay Area. The groundskeepers keep the tees, fairways and greens meticulously perfect. The staff is attentive and friendly. If you want to spend a day looking at vineyards, rolling topography and navigating ideal course conditions then this course delivers an A+. I’m a 12 Index and this is my favorite golf course in Northern California. Play a perfect course while drinking delicious home grown wine. Cheers!

Great surprise!

This was my first time at this golf course. What a great surprise! The condition of the fairways were fantastic the greens were nice, with the exception of some small aerification holes. Pace of play was great I teed off at 2:40 and played 3:45. Got a great deal from golfnow.com. Staff was incredibly helpful. The layout on the front nine is traditional and a lot of fun even for advanced golfers. The back side is a little more tricky. Playing with Two Fellas that knew the course helped with certain shots. The views were amazing although the wind was crazy at 25 miles an hour. Overall I will return, enjoy more wine, and enjoy the golf course. This was a great surprise. Actually played the next day at Poppy with a Marshall from Wente. Two great courses but Wente gets the win on these two days.

Great course

Course is great. Great shape, greens were fast but fair. Fairways were awesome, tee boxes were okay. Really hot out, could have used more water jugs out there but all in all great course, little pricey but fun to play once or twice a year.

Great views, fun course

Played this course a few years back and was on vacation from the east coast and decided to go back. I really find this to be a fun and challenging layout and especially love some of the holes on the back nine. Found a Hot Deal on Saturday afternoon and combined with the Memorial Day 25% off so I played for $60, which was a great value for this course. Tees, fairways, and greens were all in great shape as I remembered.

I showed up about an hour early as a single and they told me I could go out earlier. The course was pretty empty, especially for Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Went out as a single and played two balls on each hole. Didn't catch anyone for 15 holes and then had to wait behind a few foursomes but still finished in just over 3 hours.

I would definitely recommend this course and hope to play it again in the future.
