The Course at Wente Vineyards
About
Located less than an hour east of San Francisco, the Course at Wente Vineyards sprawls across the lush, rolling hills of Livermore Valley. Greg Norman carefully crafted the golf course, creating one of northern California's most challenging layouts. The course incorporates three different landscapes: woodlands, grassy meadows, and mature vineyards. All throughout the golf course though, golfers will be faced with dramatic elevation changes that cause tricky uneven lies but that also means there are panoramic views to be enjoyed on almost every hole. The fairways and landing areas are narrow and require good club management. The prevailing winds add another challenging element to the course. The Course at Wente Vineyards' back nine holes are more demanding with the par 3s being especially memorable. It is a tough but fair round that will reward proper club selection and strategy.

Golfer Reviews
Great layout
This is a beautiful course with each hole well laid out.
Enjoyed the Day
Played the Friday of US Open week and was paired with a couple dudes from the Phillipines who were here fulfilling their dream to see Tiger play in person.
My buddy and I played the WAYYYYY back tips that they used in the Nationwide Tour event here a few years back, which is why I rated it "extremely difficult"
Course was in very pure shape, although the greens could've used another couple feet on the Stimpmeter (my local muni has greens that are faster). They were by no means terrible, though. Course layout was great, challenging. They Pro in the Pro Shop was super nice, offered me a yardage guide after a brief chat.
Only really negative is the course is totally unwalkable, which is a "sad face" in my book. But the views are really good.
Good golf bad service
A pretty decent course (though a couple of holes are under repair so they don’t play to par or the gps) ruined by surly people at the front desk and appallingly bad service in the Grill..
Yes. But
I’ve always enjoyed this course even if it feels a bit tricked out . The staff are mostly rude in the golf shop and in the grill. Service is terrible. I hope the manager reads this. I’m an old friend and I wish these issues could be fixed.
Excellent course
We loved this course playing through the vineywards.. Challenging changes in elevation, beautiful views and friendly staff. Definitely would play here again next time we are back in the area.
Wente. Vineyards
This is one of my favorite Bay Area courses and a great layout....just wish there was better communication from all courses when greens have been aerated..
Upscale experience
Cold and windy but otherwise perfect. Not easy but not punishing. Everything was in top notch shape cool layout and nice views. Driving range is grass and only ten bucks for as many balls as you can hit. My cart was dying and without prompting a guy met me at the tee box and switched it out for a fully charged one. Pleasure to play. Only advice dont walk and dont walk to the driving range it is on top of a huge hill.
Incredibly scenic course, pricey but totally worth it!
To say this course is scenic is an understatement. It is absolutely breathtaking. The course layout is very interesting and challenging with lots of dramatic elevation changes and strategically placed hazards so you shouldn't always hit driver. Greens were in good shape despite lack of recent rain. Hit it into the vineyards and you typically can still play, but you'll be hitting down the rows and dodging bees/wasps in warm weather. Walking this course would be a workout, especially the "Lombard Street" cart path between the 9th and 10th holes. It is a bit pricey but this is Wine Country in NoCal - nothing is cheap here.
Panoramic Golf Course!
Beautiful golf course amongst hills and vineyards. The course is in great shape considering the time of year. Greens were putting true. Bunkers were nicely raked. Staff was friendly. I will definitely play it again.
