The Course at Wente Vineyards

Wente always offers a challenging, scenic round that will leave you wanting to play another round. Got a great deal for the afternoon twilight rate and enjoyed a well paced 4 1/2 hour round. I always play here when I can get the good rate.

We stopped after 12 holes due to the extremely slow pace of play. The group in front lost balls on almost every hole and spent way too long looking for the lost balls. No signs of a marshal anywhere.

Too many other great courses in the area. While I love the layout of the course, for the price I think I will be looking elsewhere.

Really enjoyed the layout and the course was in pretty good shape. The course is designed around the surrounding mountains and provide some great views and elevation changes. I used a Hot Deal and it was well worth the price. The normal rates are a bit steep but I don't think you'll be disappointed. The course is fairly open off the tee but there are definitely some challenging holes and tee shots, especially with the wind blowing. If you hit it off the rough about 10 yards or so most holes have either vineyards or tall grass that the staff warns you not to enter because of rattlesnakes.

I would love this course except holes 12-14 are just bad golf holes. The front 9 is spectacular and the finishing holes are 3 of the hardest holes in NorCal. The food at the cafe and restaurant are very good.

I have played this course about 10 times now. In general every hole seems to play longer than I think. If I take an extra club on most shots I end up scoring way better. The scenery through the vineyards makes this a very unique and memorable round.

But I just can't get over 12-14. 12 is an absurd par 5. An uphill drive that's nearly always into a very strong headwind leaves you with a completely blind second shot through a gap in the hills. With no yardage book, you have to guess at the proper line but the prevailing wind and slope of the fairway usually punish anything but a perfect shot. 13 is an over-gimmicky downhill par 4. If you want to carry the vineyard with a 280 blast, you can drive the green which means way too many people wait on the tee box slowing the pace of play way down. The smart shot into the fat part of the fairway usually results in a very uneven lie into an undulating green. This is easily my least favorite hole on the course. 14 is a very boring par 3 that is so out of place with the other very good 3's on the course.

Its a good course overall but the 3 bad holes in a row knock it way down my list.

All greens were still recovering from aeration and all 18 holes were cart-path only. None of these info were disclosed when booking the tee time -- green fee was not discounted at these conditions which is completely unfair to golfers! I took a Tuesday off from work drove 60 miles from home to Wente but ended up a trashy day of golf. It was a completely dissatisfied experience - not recommended.

I played Wente Vinyards on a "hot deal", so for $60 instead of $120, it was definitely worth it. Greens had been aerated about 2 weeks ago and aren't really ready yet, so putting was a problem. Greens aside, the rest of the facility was in great condition, fairways were perfect and tee boxes seemed appropriately mowed. The course is pretty wide open, so unless you're short or wild, the course sets up pretty well for good scores. The course is beautiful and has many elevation changes.

Staff accommodated me when I asked to move up my tee time. That was very nice of them.

The hitting area of their driving range did not seem flat - felt like I was practicing on a downhill lie. Wish this was a bit better.

Will definitely come back but will give it a few weeks for the greens to recover.

Took my son to Wente with a Golf Moose Voucher. The fun began when I went to the counter and showed my voucher and was told. OK lets see if this is a good voucher. Whew it was, of course I knew that. Then he asked for my $110 and of course I told him it had already been paid. The course was in generally poor condition, which is strange because it was perfect the last time I played. The tee boxes had not been mowed in several days. They were almost to tall for my 4 inch tees. The areas off of the fairway were not playable. The fairways were nice and the greens were a bit fuzzy but good. I was overall disappointed. Maybe next time.

The course layout is excellent with great views and course up keep is excellent. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I highly recomend Wente Vineyards to golfers that like a demanding challenging course!!!

Very nice course great scenic , challenge and fair. After weeks of raining the course condition still in very good shape. Green is fast and brutal...... I will come back ......

The weather was not cooperating with frost delays and cold temperatures but that's all I can say that was bad about the day. Golf course was in excellent condition and the staff as usual friendly and helpful. In particular, the putting greens were wickedly fast and in challenging positions. Fairways were soft so don't expect much roll and it seems that every hole played a bit longer. Overall an excellent experience.

This course is fantastic! Highly recommended course to play. Need marshals to enforce pace of play.

Wine tasting and a fantastic golf course in one place. It is definitely worth having a glass before you tee off to calm your nerves. The course starts with a spectacular looking easy par 4 but don't be fooled as the holes get progressively more difficult. Although the fairways are generous, there are some blind holes on the back nine and out of bounds in play. The pace of play was good, greens quick and overall the course condition and facilities make this a worthwhile trip from San Francisco.

Awesome course! Must play on week days to keep any pace.

every hole is memorable and unique. will come as often as i can afford!

There have lots to challenge better for me play as well. Also there course are very Neat layout and green putter smooth as fast roll down. There the best golf course are NEAT ,,,, !

This course has the best scenery around the Bay Area Top Notch! The Course conditions were excellent. The starter was very friendly and took the time to explain the course to me as I never played there before. The pace of play was good but it was a Monday. I'm sure the weekend pace is much different. I would highly recommend this course to anyone of all skill levels although there are plenty of challenging holes. The facility and course are excellent. The blue and black tee boxes have the best views! Can't wait to play again. Thank you Wente.
