The Course at Wente Vineyards

Wine tasting and a fantastic golf course in one place. It is definitely worth having a glass before you tee off to calm your nerves. The course starts with a spectacular looking easy par 4 but don't be fooled as the holes get progressively more difficult. Although the fairways are generous, there are some blind holes on the back nine and out of bounds in play. The pace of play was good, greens quick and overall the course condition and facilities make this a worthwhile trip from San Francisco.

Awesome course! Must play on week days to keep any pace.

There have lots to challenge better for me play as well. Also there course are very Neat layout and green putter smooth as fast roll down. There the best golf course are NEAT ,,,, !

This course has the best scenery around the Bay Area Top Notch! The Course conditions were excellent. The starter was very friendly and took the time to explain the course to me as I never played there before. The pace of play was good but it was a Monday. I'm sure the weekend pace is much different. I would highly recommend this course to anyone of all skill levels although there are plenty of challenging holes. The facility and course are excellent. The blue and black tee boxes have the best views! Can't wait to play again. Thank you Wente.

If you have the money to play here, do yourself a favor and play one of the other gorgeous courses the bay area has to offer. ( Like Poppy Ridge, Silverado, or Yocha Dehe.)

I played here at the end of August. The course was pretty nice other than the greens that had been sanded recently and were not fun to putt on. This wouldn't have been an issue had we been warned prior to playing. There was no mention of this from the pro-shop when we made our reservation, when we showed up, or when the marshall went over the course on the first hole. For $120 a round the course should have warned us, and this may have affected our decision to play here. Furthermore when we mentioned this to the marshall he asked sarcastically if we had a degree in course maintenance. I sent management an email which was not answered. Will not be back.

Overall it's really nice to play. They provide driving range and balls for free and foods are not bad. The course condition is fantastic, both the green and fairway are well maintained. However, pace of play was not good. The marshall never showed up while playing 18 holes.

Also, they charge 25 bucks for a rider.

The course was in good condition and staff was fine. We ate a burger before we played. I felt it was very pricey, $15, for an average burger. The gold tees are a good challenge if long off the tee. I'm good length (260 yrds) and I found it was to much for me. we would have had more fun from the blues.

Course was in excellent condition even after sanded greens.

I love Wente. The course is very challenging if you play from the blues or blacks yet it is quite fair if you play from the whites. This round was very fast at only 4 hours 15 minutes. Course was in excellent shape (although they had just sanded the greens making them much slower than normal).

My wife and I played on this course for the first time. Very challenging course and we enjoyed every bit of it. The staff were very friendly especially Mike. The whole experience make me feel like coming back to play many times rounds with my friends.

Excellent course in supreme condition. Some very challenging tight holes as well as a few to get you back on track. Spendy but well worth the experience. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I will play here again.

Great course conditions and friendly staff. Pace was little bit slow but it gives time to enjoy the surroundings.

Wente is a very good course.The pace of play was not good, the marshall did nothing to remedy the situation, older man heavy set, not friendly,We were a twosome stuck behind a foursome of old slow 25+ handicappers .We got by them they were rude thanked them they just gave us rude stares.We got stuck again behind another foursome of 25+ handicappers.We waited 5 minutes plus on the rest of the course.

Very challenging course in excellent condition with interesting elevation changes. There are a few holes side by side, but not many. Very good experience, worth the price of admission !

The course is in great condition and the greens are true and speed is consistent. Keep the ball on the fairway as the dry grass that borders the fairways is tall.

This course is definitely worth a play if you haven't played it. Picturesque setting, dramatic layout, always in good condition in the many times I've played it over the years.

But it's not quite what I want it to be. The risk-reward trade-off that marks a great course is not there. On most holes, the decision is made for you; there is only one smart play. And it is unwalkable, always a strike against.

The food at the lodge is decent, but quite a bit more expensive than you'd like it to be.

But if you haven't played it yet, for sure you should go check it out.

This course was in great condition. The only signs of a drought was an empty creek bed on the tail end of the back 9.

The scenery is well above average when comparing to other courses around the Bay Area. The greens and the fairways were in great shape. Did I mention we are in a drought? Maybe using reclaimed water to irrigate or they couldn't care less about a shortage of water.
I got a 4some for around $65 pp. is worth it. I am not a good enough golfer to spend over that. A great course if you want to woo clients. If u just want to hack away then this might not be the course for you.

This was only my second time at Wente. Its a fun course...each hole has its own signature, I thought for the most part the fairways and greens were in excellent condition. It was rainy/misty throughout the round but the course continued to play well. Two course Marshall's we came in contact with were helpful, professional, and amicable. Those barber poles set out as starting points for 90 degree entry to fairways...I've not experienced them before but they made the play move with a good pace and also protected the course effectively. I'm not certain if that dinner restaurant at the other end of the parking lot is related to the golf function but both of my visits...we ended up driving into Livermore for dinner because it would have been a two hour wait before they started to serve dinner.
Looking forward to visiting again.
