The Course at Wente Vineyards

By far the best course in the Tri Valley Area, tough but fair is what I like to tell friends, 1st. hole is your best chance for a birdie so take advantage of it. Great views, free range balls, every hole gives you something to think about in terms of which shot to play. THe pace of play is usually good, they don't stack people up too tight. A lot of people think this course is private, but it's public, and you can usually find some kind of deal on golfnow, or at Costco. The food is great, and the Grille after your round is a great place to enjoy a beer or glass of wine overlooking the 18th. green 5 stars for this course

If you've never played this course do yourself a favor and book a tee time. There are sweeping views of the Livermore Valley. You play in the Vineyards. The course is in fantastic condition. The staff is friendly.

My only minor complaint about this round is they were aerating the greens and it wasn't announced on GolfNow with the icon. So I suppose my advice would be to call the course in advance which defeats the purpose of GolfNow.

This is a beautiful course and in great shape. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Had lunch at the restaurant and the burger was really good. The fries were like shoe string potato chips. Not very good. My friend had a salad and he said it wasn't very good either.

Overall, a very nice day at a really nice golf course with great people working there. I recommend it.

The course offers the average golfer a fair challenge. The fact that on many holes you are up in the hills teeing off offers many spectacular views. The steep winding paths take you thru the vinyards and give you an up close look at the vines. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

The course was in excellent shape. The greens rolled true and fairways and tee boxes were great too. Good variety of holes with lots of elevation changes.

From the time we arrived at the course the staff was welcoming and accommodating. It was apparent that our experience was important to them. Very enjoyable round . Fabulous views and interesting holes.

Several elevated tees make for great views and interesting shots. Great risk reward holes can produce birdies or double bogeys (especially 18). The course can be really tough when the wind picks up. Greens were in good shape. Quick but not lightning fast. Staff was very friendly. Food is not cheap.

Really enjoy playing Wente. Easily one of the best public courses in Northern California. Despite the drought, this course is in great shape. Lots of wind in the afternoon adds to the challenge, especially on the back nine. Not a course for beginners.

I play here once a year or so and always enjoy the gracious, rolling layout among the vineyards. Staff is good, round starts on time. This visit, a bit better "guest management" would have helped, as it is really an unwalkable course (long, steep climbs between some holes), but a pair in front of us walked while trying to climb on their friend pair's carts for difficult transitions. Significant waits on a few holes). More important, the two nice men I was paired with played the championship blue tees on a very windy day, and were clearly VERY high handicappers who should have been discouraged from doing so. More good, tough courses need to encourage the "play it forward" policy. Since we were waiting, no time lost, but frustrating for me within our group at times as I tried to track them and wait through many, many lost balls. No marshal on course that I saw.

Overall great experience. Staff was awesome and the conditions of the course were excellent. Will definitely come back.

The course is in pristine condition and always well maintained. The staff is fantastic and make you feel at home.

We've been playing Wente as a part of our weekly rotation and like always, it was impeccable. The day was hot, but could not have asked for better conditions. Only tidbit was that the greens were much slower and rougher than usual as they seemed to have been recently aerated. But that is to be expected this time of the year.

Very good course. I like the greens. I made a lot of putts. They seem to run true as I've never made so many putts anywhere else I've played. Unfortunately the other parts of my game were not working and I lost a lot of balls and made a bunch of triples. The course is certainly a good one.

Fairways, tee boxes, and sand traps were in very good condition. But greens had been aerated a few weeks prior and were still in poor condition, also several greens had minor damage (small divot type holes). Wente should not be charging full price until the greens are in normal condition.

Excellent course!! Friendly staff, beautiful views of the mountains and vineyards. Only complaint was the greens! Grrens were inder repair and full of sand!

The greens had been sanded and were not worth putting. Wish Golf Now or the golf course would alert you to this before hand. Would have waited until a later date.
