Don't have their act together with GOLFNOW
Booked on GolfNow for 10:45 tee time. Got there around 10:15 and was told my tee time had been moved to 10:55. Asking why, they told me GolfNow booked me into a slot that did not exist.
I said I'd like to hit a bucket of balls before my round. Was told "sorry but our range is closed". Asked why, they said the ball pickup vehicle's cage was not working. I said I'd wait. When I got to the starter, he told me the range WAS open, so I said great, I'll go hit and be back in time for my tee time. The starter accompanied me to the range, and low and behold, he said it was closed. BUT, I saw a guy hitting! I asked why he could he, and I was told "that is the instructor teaching - its ok for him". WHAT? The guy he was teaching was clearly a beginner, saying the ball all over the place, and its OK???? I just shook my head and told the guy I just did not get it. Starter then said "sorry, range is closed. I'll call yo when you time is up. OK? " I said it was not ok, that I would wait for the range to open and would tee off late. I did, the course was in good shape (the front nine anyway, the back nine had been aeraated but I was not told!). Overall, nice course but I will not be back again. Not well run the the folks dont seem to know what to do about it.
Excellent round
Course is in the best shape of all the courses in the valley. Great round with beautiful views!
Exceeded Expectations
I drove in from Orange County without knowing what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised. I loved the course. The staff was super friendly throughout the day. From the moment I was greeted by the gentleman in the golf shop until I left the property I felt as if the staff was genuinely interested in providing a top notch golf experience. The starter in the morning was attentive & friendly. Also, in the afternoon Jack(I think from Indiana) was super friendly and helpful. Clearly it's a theme. I loved the course and look forward to returning in the near future.
Stone House Sucks
Will never play the Stone House 9 again. It's not nearly as enjoyable as the creek or oaks and the design feels very "forced." In fact, I would have rated this course 5 stars if I had played the creek to oaks like I have before. The creek was in pretty good condition with the exception of #1 green.
From open to Hidden
The Creek nine is moderately difficult because of trees guarding placement of tee shots. They were working on fairways with scrappers during play which lead weird lies. The Stone House nine was blind shot alley, if you had not played before. Very exposed to wind, hills and hidden undulating fairways.
Greens were fantastic, fairways tight except were being worked on, traps firm and rough fair for players.
Pace of play
Pace of play was very slow...there was a group of six and five. The round was backed up.
Fun and challenging
Played this course fo a practice round and then for the SD vs LA SoCal cup. Course is in great shape and the greens roll true except for #1 on the oaks. That green was different from all the other greens for some reason. Tale of two 9's. The oaks nine was manageable and the holes were in front of you to see the way they play. The stone house 9 was a totally different course. Blind shots, elevation changes and wind was more prevalent. All in all a great course, friendly staff and the food was good as well. Will definitely be back.
Great Time at Temecula Inn
Lived in Temecula for three years and should have played this course long ago! Fairways were well kept and the greens were excellent. I was disappointed in the bunkers (hard and compact), but overall I was completely satisfied with this course. Definitely will spend more rounds perfecting my shots!
Creek/Stonehouse
Course was Beautiful and was only going to play 18 but on the back 9 pace was so slow on stone because of one 4some. There was ambassador to help keep the pace and no water in sight on the back nine or cart girl in 90 degree weather we turned back on the 12th hole to get some H20 and try our luck on the oaks. Pace was better until we hit a wall on the hole 5 there again because of one group!! Again no one to help keep pace, all water coolers were empty and no cart girl again!!! And this was a Sunday afternoon!! Loved the course a lot but with all negatives combined got in my head and ruined my game a bit. Was 2 over on the front and ended 6 over on the back!! Just a little dissapointed but would go back recommend for anyone who has the time to play a 5 to 6 hour round easy. At some points on the back we were waiting 10-15 minutes in between holes and couldn't get in a groove.
Great cinditions
Best cinditions I have seen out there. Its always in good shape but its looking above and beyond now.
Temecula Creek Inn
We were warned by the starter (in a good way) that the Stonehouse Nine was going to be a great test of target golf and very playable off the fairway. For the most part, he was correct. I don't know if was score-able simply by hitting fairways without distance, although as firm and as fast as courses are playing here in the Temecula area, perhaps playing approach shots around/in front of greens rather than to greens might help avoid greater trouble over the green. We'd like another shot at the Stonehouse nine with a little local knowledge, but the Creeks Nine was thoroughly enjoyable, a sort of stroll-in-the-park kind of course that was much more open than the Stonehouse nine. All in all, this was an amazing bargain (we got the $25 hot deal) for the price. Its fairways were in the best shape of courses we've played out here so far. The greens rolled well, but they were firm to the approach shots and almost every club we hit (PW-8I) hit and released through the green to the fringe. Definitely worth trying!!
Major Character, Challenges and Nice Condition
My wife and I played here early on a Tuesday morning, expecting to finish quickly enough to enjoy a nice afternoon at the Temecula wineries..TCI did not disappoint ! We did all 3 nines in less than 5 hours. Only reason we did not give 5 stars for course conditions was the Oaks greens were rock hard..wedges hit high with spin were bouncing/running out 30 ft or more..maybe due for a punching ?... but players hate that..lol. The other 2 nines were perfect..slick and true greens, those. Harely a bad lie anywhere. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was under expansion work but not a bother. The Stonehouse 9 is a masterpiece running into and out of the live oak Hill country...what character ! Nothing contrived just native land and contours. The Oaks also flirts with the hill country. We saw an eagle...yes not a hawk..perched on a rock by the water on Oaks # 3..if we can attach a photo we will. Later on the Stonehouse we saw a cute lil brown fox...we are pretty sure it was not just a baby coyote.. The Creek 9 is flatter and more basic but excellent, with a good finishing hole. TCI rocks and is deserving of our good rating and continued success. Cheers and thanks ! Dave and Cathy
nephew booked it
had a great time played solo the groups were very courteous would very highly recomend
Need a Marshall out on course
I love playing this course but it needs a Marshall out on courses to keep pace of play.
Nice !
Beautiful course for the money.
Trickier than it looked
We played Creek and Oaks. Creeks is tricky-if you're not on the correct side of the fairway, you can be in jail. We had a fast front nine, then a jammed up back nine on Oaks. Greens are tricky, staff was great. And it was a bargain!
Great course
Great course, fantastic layout. Greens were a little bumpy on this day. Very dirty portapotty
Temecula Creek 1st time playig
We really enjoyed the course. We were paired with a couple who were familiar with the course and provided some insights as to best direction to hit. This undoubtedly improved our game since we had not seen the course previously. Although the course was crowded, there was never a back up on the tees, and we never felt rushed. Fairways and greens were in very good condition. We found the course challenging without being so difficult that we couldn't enjoy it. I would love to play the course again.
Not Bad
Overall it's a nice layout. The course wasn't in the best of shape but not horrible either. The pace of play wasn't bad but would have been better if they had a marshal. It would definitely be worth a try if you haven't played it.
Terrible Course Conditions for the Price
Not worth the $80+ in green fees that we were charged. Great course layout, but the fairways and greens were in terrible shape.
Thanks for the honest review. It's useful when someone takes the time to tell us what the experience was really like.
