About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Mixed bag
Course was in nice shape. I didn’t find it to be tight as I had read In reviews. Fun layout. However we were never convinced that the yardage markers were accurate. Pace of play was horrible! After sixth while there was a wait on each shot. No ranger on course to move game along. Torture. I’d recommend only because I can’t imagine it playing any slower.
Bear with Bear Creek
Course has a very good layout. Challenging but fair. Course does need some TLC. Could be a real winner if it was better maintained. Still, I would play it again.
Bear Creek
course located down the road from our condo, very easy to find. not too crazy with the dirt cart path, the keep everything nature did not seem to work on some of the holes (looked like a pasture and lack of maintenance). however, the price was good and we had a fun afternoon.
Nice course, excellent staff. Great hospitality. Will come back if in the area.
Excellent golf course
The best layout I have found in HH. Tight fairways but very fair. Not a power course if you play the correct tees. Greens smooth and good speed. I highly recommend this course. Beautiful natural setting with lots of wildlife.
Good course but not for me
The course is pretty tight and invites you to hit less than driver on a lot of holes. Course was in great shape, but it’s just not my preferred type of course. It was a good value as compared to other courses in the area.
Excellent course
Course in great shape, lots of water and sand. Greens fast and true. Excellent fairways ! Recommend this course!
Old style feel
Nice course, pace was good, conditions were great, weather was fabulous. My only complaint was we could not get any food at the turn other than some pre-made sandwiches, not allowed to order anything off the menu to go. I would recommend and would play again. Watch out for the Gators
Soft course made it much longer
Very nice layout and the pace of play was fine. Even though the course had a lot of rain in recent days and after we played, it still was veey playable. We probably never got used to the slower greens which cost us a few strokes, but they were still fine despite a recent aeration. Would enjoy playing again!
Nice Layout!
Played this course for the first time on a Saturday afternoon following some thunderstorms. The weather must have scared people away because the course was pretty empty and pace of play was great. There were some areas of standing water from the storms but overall I was surprised how well the course had drained. The greens were smooth and rolled true. Main area of improvement would be the bunkers, which had very little sand. Also enjoyed the range and practice area - I’ll be back!
Great Shape
The course was in great shape! I was expecting burnt greens due to the extreme heat, but the course was in excellent condition!
Excellent Value
A very professional layout,, the staff was so genuinely friendly, it was great. We were even given a free lunch after the round!! Kind of a hidden treasure for the money!
