About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Tight course
Accurate drives are needed in the narrow fairways with doglegs
The sand traps need more sand and grooming

It’s a difficult course that’s not made any easier by slow greens and below average maintained traps. The majority of approach shots to greens require carry which seems to make the course play longer than tee locations indicate. Poor selection in the Pro Shop.
Great Day at Bear Creek
My wife and I played Bear Creek and enjoyed our round immensely. The course was in great shape, great layout, a very, very fun round of golf. Definitely on our must play list in HHI. WELL DONE!!! M&G
For the cost ok value
The course conditions were a little rough. Could use some TLC and some $$$ put into it. But, for what we plaid and ok value
Almost there
If you like doglegs on every hole apart from par 3’s then this is for you. Unfortunately it was not what I was hoping for.
Some of the staff were exceptionally pleasant and nice unfortunately the meet and greet staff let a lot to be desired and not very welcoming.
The condition of fairways was good and the greens ok and regular paced greens goodish.
If you get an exceptional price to play then take it but back away from paying full rate.
Good value
I have been playing this course on our annual trip to HHI for 5 years. I like the layout and staff is always great. This year we played right after Ian had blown through and it seemed like the course could use some TLC. Bunkers need some work but greens were in good shape. Can usually find some good prices on GolfNow. I’ll be back.
Great layout
Wonderful golf course. Lots of sand traps, marsh and water. Not overly long, must keep ball in play. Good true greens!
Mixed bag
Course was in nice shape. I didn’t find it to be tight as I had read In reviews. Fun layout. However we were never convinced that the yardage markers were accurate. Pace of play was horrible! After sixth while there was a wait on each shot. No ranger on course to move game along. Torture. I’d recommend only because I can’t imagine it playing any slower.
Bear with Bear Creek
Course has a very good layout. Challenging but fair. Course does need some TLC. Could be a real winner if it was better maintained. Still, I would play it again.
Bear Creek
course located down the road from our condo, very easy to find. not too crazy with the dirt cart path, the keep everything nature did not seem to work on some of the holes (looked like a pasture and lack of maintenance). however, the price was good and we had a fun afternoon.
Nice course, excellent staff. Great hospitality. Will come back if in the area.
