Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

18th hole Photo submitted by Sammy369 on 02/09/2015
Go down the road
This was our first course on our golf trip. We arrived and they had no carts. After waiting they suggested we let a group go ahead as we would then have no one behind.. this group that they let through proceeded to hit two balls each. We finally got some carts. “If the cart stalls lift the seat and reset it” the cart was aweful. Eventually we had to reset it about three times a hole.the course conditions were well below par- more like a muni course. We had to turn around as we couldn’t finish our round. Of course there was no one their when we arrived back. I sent an e-mail to them last week. The never answered. They don’t care about our aweful experience. Since then there have been so many other courses that redeemed this aweful experience. I don’t know why anyone would golf here when you can go to Dolphin.
Good value but spotty conditions
We played on a cold windy day with few people on the course. Unfortunately one very slow group was ahead of us so it took about 5 hours with no marshall to move things along. It is a good, challenging course but it is in only fairly good shape. Bunkers are particularly bare at the moment
Very Enjoyable
My wife and I had a tee time in the early afternoon. The starter (Denny) asked we just wait while he did some “scouting”. He returned and said if we moved up to the third hole that things would move a lot more quickly and that he had already advised the two foursomes in front. We did just that and ended up finishing all 18 holes in under three hours. He also checked with us further along to ask about pace of play. Amazing! The course itself is in good shape and we both enjoyed the layout. Cart paths could use some work but other than that, all great! Every staff member we came in contact with was polite, friendly and professional. Kudos to them all.
Good course
Good course to play. Very challenging. I only wish they would put a picture of the holes on the card so we know which direction the hole goes.
course ok but no on course management
The tee times were on time and the initial pace of play was acceptable. At about the 6th hole, things the pace slowed substantially Never did we see a marshal to expedite play. As we finished the a9th hole, two groups drove by use and hit off #10, essentially cutting in front of us. There was no marshal to correct this play which resulted in the back nine also playing very slowly.
Facilities were closed prior to 4 pm which was an inconvenience to many.
All in all, a very frustrating afternoon at an average lf course
Early morning Bear Ceek
Had 8:12 tee time Check in was quick, range balls were available Nice shape for this time of year. Greens held ball well. A little slow, but again, putted true. Finished in less than 4 hours. Great value when compared to other courses in area.
Course was in great shape
The grass has started to grow which makes everything more enjoyable.
The only problem I had was to find which tee that I was playing from. The markers are old which made it difficult to determine which color they were. The white tee markers have faded to almost a creamy tan color. The gold or yellow markers also had faded to look like they could be white tees. A quick can of spray paint would sure correct this minor issue.
Overall, the entire staff were professional and tried to be helpful in anyway possible.
Pleasant Spring Golf
Nice variety of holes. Grass starting to grow in early March. A good day of golf.
Very nice course. Great value for money only complaint sand traps packed down needed to chip out
Bear Creek
Greens not too good. Fairways and tee boxes ok. Good value for the money.
