Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Nice Track

A very nice layout with water on several holes. Wide fairways but trees make it challenging. Very good value as it includes a very nice sandwich and drink at the turn

Just good golf

This is a fair course with opportunities to score well but you can also get yourself in trouble if you are not careful. I like that the layout of the course makes you think about ball placement. The sand traps are strategically placed. The greens ran true and were well maintained. The fairways were in good shape. I like playing this course.

Good course

The good:

Rees Jones course. Really like the layout, no tricked up holes. Fairways and greens were in very good shape.

The bad:

Staff didn’t go out their way for anything. Clubhouse is overdue for an overhaul.

Our cart died on 15 and no one answered the phone to help. Fortunately a group behind had an extra cart and was nice to help out.

We paid $56 which was a good price.

I’d play again if the price was right.

Over Priced

Nice track that was enjoyable to play. The greens were fast and rolled true. The front 9 does not have paved cart paths. Course condition is what you'd expect for a public course but it's not worth $92.

They have a local rate. You say you live on the island. Incompetent consumer should be the review.

Play again course

We continue to enjoy this course. The only issue we had was with some old ladies that refused to let us play through. We had to skip a hole to get around them.

Course well designed

Course could be in better shape bare spots, cart paths need maintenance. Greens are fine, bunkers need more and better sand. Pace of play was better than other times.

Fun Day on the Course before the PGA Heritage Tournament

The course was in good shape. Definitely a great course to balance out the advantages of long hitters. Almost all par 4 and 5's are dog legs. This made for interesting approach shots. The greens were in great shape and roll true. Made a 40 and 50 footer on front 9!

Golf

Coarse was in pretty good shape, but alot of the traps had no sand.

Pace of play was to slow, they paired us which was fine. But there was a twosome ahead of us and a twosome behind us.Why?Got to the clubhouse after our 1st nine, nobody there so we couldn't get anything to drink. Not even any water.

That was not good on a warm day.

Nice Track with Engaging Layout

Maps app misdirected my route; don't turn until you see sign for golf course! Pro shop and starter super nice. Tee boxes accepted tees easily enough. Fairways have plenty of rolling surface changes to keep things interesting. Green side sand makes long errant approach shots a questionable decision. As a bogey golfer, I would choose layup over target. Greens rolled well. Very enjoyable layout. As a single and some open time I chose not to pair up. Played thru two groups. 3 hrs 20 minutes. Nice.

Good but best

Greens and bunkers could have been better. Carts are nice. And the sandwich and beverage was a nice touch afterwards. All in all I would come back.
