Bear Creek Golf Club

We were very pleased with the price and the great shape the course was in. Good Value.

We have played over 30 rounds since mid-January on 15 different courses including Savannah Harbor. Bear Creek's fairways were outstanding and far better than ANY course we have played this year. The greens are in super condition and rolled wonderfully. This course is narrow with small greens, medium in length, numerous doglegs and plenty of water and sand. Plenty of holes where you should, you may not, but you should give thought to club selection beginning at the tee box and through the hole... it rewards good decisions and will punish poor decisions! I play to a 7-9 handicap and find this course challenging but extremely fun. My wife, generally shoots between 110-120, does not like water or sand, yet asked as we walked off the 18th green, when are we coming back? So many courses in the HHI, SC area are in very poor condition this spring, Bear Creek is not one of them... stellar conditions! You will enjoy it. We played in just over 4 hours as a foursome so pace was good... have seen reviews that said there was some slow play... but that was not our experience on a very nice 78 degree day.

Very good greens, not too tough layout. Conditioning from tee to near green below average, drop areas need work as do bunkers which don’t have much sand.

GolfNow failed to connect my reservation at the course. The course could not help me. Am currently attempting a refund - GolfNow does not offer much help. Must go thru my credit card company.

Got a great deal on Golfnow and it was one of the best values ever. Greens were in great condition and were pretty fast. Had to hit more draws off the tee than most courses but did have its share of fade holes. I will definitely play this course again.

Arrived early to a rude staff member at the bad drop. Wondered around having not been here before, finally found the proshop. Very small limited stock of items. Check in clerk was nice. She actually acknowledged our prescence. Grabbed a small bag of balls for the practice tee. Only to find out you can only hits irons....WHAT??? Made our way to the first tee and off we went. Slow play all day made it a grind. Course layout was good and in descent shape for early spring. All though for $160 for 2 people. Some refreshments available on the course, nicer staff, and a better clubhouse is expected. Enjoyed the time with dad but we wont be back.

Great course layout and fast greens make this course one of Hilton Head Islands best values for the money.

The staff was excellent to deal with, starting with the check in at the pro shop and with the pleasant starter. Found a great deal on GolfNow and was even able to tee off 30 minutes ahead of schedule at 1:20 pm. We played as a foursome and completed our round in less than 3-1/2 hours. First time playing here and we were not disappointed. Great layout and several tee blocks for all skill levels. Lots of challenging holes, but the biggest challenge was reading these very fast greens. Definitely return and ensure I let all my friends know about this course.

Played Tuesday afternoon at 2pm and they were still sending groups out every 8-10 minutes. We ran from cart to tee box to every shot and were still being pushed on every hole. Finished 18 in less than 3 1/2 hours.... NOT enjoyable in anyway. Pro shop staff greeted us with a “here’s your keys and don’t ask me my questions” attitude.... very rude. I’d spend my money and time golfing elsewhere

Club house staff rude. Poor course condition. Pace very slow, no staff monitoring.

This is one of my favourite HH courses. Interesting layout, friendly staff, good conditions.

Challenging greens, good layouts, abundance of sand traps and lots of risk and reward opportunities. We enjoyed!

Usually go off-island, but found good deal through Golf Now. Had done the front nine a couple of times last year but did full 18 this time. Greens were perfect. Plenty of traps and water. Glad we brought lots of balls. Was a cool day,(low 60's) and windy so course was not crowded. Noticed that pull carts are permitted. Will return if good deals continue.

I first played Bear Creek two years ago. I played it several times then and last year. Before this year you could play for $40 and got a free lunch and a beer. Saturday I played at 9:40 on a Saturday and it cost me $80 and no lunch or beer. Good news is that they put new sand in most of the traps which was a problem the last couple of years. Bad news is that the traps were not raked from the day before. In addition it appeared that the greens and fairways were not blown off. Besides needing some daily TLC we played behind a foursome that were members. They walked and as a result our round was well over 4 hours.

Don’t get me wrong - this is a great course. The layout is great. But they are still searching for their niche. At $40 bucks last year with a free lunch it was an awesome value. At $80 with no lunch its not worth it. Hopefully management will find some care takers that will give it the TLC it needs and bring the price down a bit.
