Fun course
Course in good condition. Starter and marshalls excellent. Restaurant staff helpfull. Pro shop staff on this day seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but golf course. Never smiled. Other than that fun day.
Lots of rough areas and done get in a bunker
I normally try to be fair in my reviews, I always try to stay objective. I was not able to hit balls because the driving range was closed. The fairways are lacking turf, so it’s like hitting off a cow pasture. The bunkers were hard compacted dirt. There was no real way to play an actual sand shot. My playing partners skulled multiple ball out of the bunkers. Normally I have a good time playing this course but it was a rough day. I shot 77 from the tips that should have been close to an even par day. The course needs a lot of work.
spend money on grass seed for fairways
Instead of spending money on driving range and adding chairs and ping pong tables and other games spend some money on grass seed and sprinkle it on the fairways. Hitting off dirt 99 % of time on fairways unless you find a weed growing out there and move ball into that area . Tee boxes and greens are in good shape and so are the bunkers with soft sand . Disappointed in the condition of the fairways . I know it is summer but other courses in the area such as Bear Creek have grass on their fairways
The Course Needs Help
As is the case for most golf courses in Arizona right now, last year's overseed did not go well. The fairways were spotty at best with a lot of exposed dirt. The tee boxes were OK, but could be improved. The greens were a little slow, but seemed to roll true. The pace of play wes good (3 hours 15 minutes for a foursome teeing off on two different tees). The club house/restaurant was good. I would play it again.
Early Summer Conditions
DR is as good a value as there is in the east valley, especially for Maricopa County residents and even more so for Mesa locals. Great practice facility! The course is an old, tree lined course with flat fairways and sloped greens. Usually those fairways are pretty good and the greens are fast, but this time of year the conditions are a bit sketchy. Fairways and rough were a tad spotty and the greens were bumpy and a little slow. This is not a knock on DR. Just a word of warning about course conditions this’s time of year. Most courses dip a tad right after the spring and punch their greens. You still won’t do better than DR for the money. If you need pristine conditions, you’ll have to pay closer to $100, which just seems silly. Prices or temps can be triple digits. Not both.
Beer pricing is horrible, $8 pet beer with a ranch card???? I can pay that much without paying for a Ranch card in Scottsdale!!! Lower your prices!!!!
This place is a vibe
Its summer conditions and I knew there would be spots in the middle of the fairway that would be dry or dirt. You just bump the ball to the closest piece of grass and play on. Cant beat the price and course layout. This course will make you carry a bunker, draw it around the dogleg and make you earn your score. You can definitely shoot some confident building scores here but you can also get mindless and get worked by the course.
A good course that is very playable
They aerated the greens a week ago and a few fairways that caused some challenges. But it is a good course, well kept and they keep adding amenities like a new putt putt course and outdoor seating.
Poor Communication
The course overall very nice, I picked this course since the others I looked at had aerification notices on their websites. This did not so I chose to play here. So I start to play and guess what? Yes Sir the course is all aerified very disappointing.
Best Staff By Far
Course is reasonably priced, always in great condition, and well-managed. The entire staff (Pro shop, starters, rangers, cart and bev cart people, etc.) are welcoming, inclusive and friendly. One time I showed up 5-10 minutes before tee time and not one member of the staff made me feel less than. And still, they were able to keep everyone on pace (even with my shanks). That takes teamwork and the staff makes all the difference in the experience.
Nice Course - No communication
I really enjoyed my round; the biggest flaw was that there was no communication regarding the aerating of the fairways, Greens. All other courses notified us of a recent aeration and that is why I picked this course.
Time of year
Coarse was in tough shape with greens and some of the fairways being punched. Wish you had yellow range balls would make it easier to play holes nine and ten. Might want to be a little more strict on your dress code also.
