Dobson Ranch Golf Course is an enjoyable track suitable for all ages and abilities. The course has generous fairways and large greens. There is an abundance of forestry; not only are there trees lining the fairways but they are also situated throughout, making accuracy top priority. There are also water hazards and bunkers to look out for. Dobson Ranch Golf Course has a reputation for being immaculately kept and consistently being in excellent condition. On the premises there is also a convenient lighted driving range as well as other practice facilities. There is also a pro shop that carries a full line of discounted professional golf equipment.

First Time Playing

Very disappointing and frustrating start to a incomplete round, buyer beware!

First time playing the course and felt compelled to play here due to their attractive rates compared to the crazy exorbitant rates at most other courses in the Valley that have risen considerably in the past few years. I arrived as a single an hour before my round, paid my green fee, and the pro shop attendant who handled my transaction said nothing other than to enjoy my round. I went to the putting green near the first tee then went to the first tee 10 minutes before my assigned tee time. A starter finally showed up to say the course had decided to send my assigned group off 30 minutes earlier than my assigned tee time, and NO ONE told me this. I was in shock, in nearly 50 years as an avid golfer I had never experienced this. The starter said he would “do me a favor” and give me a ride to the group I was assigned to, who by then were on the 3rd green. I was not offered a refund, in addition having no chance of completing my round because the course was full. Very disappointing to say the least. Even though I liked the course and the vibe of the place, I will be very very hesitant to play here again. Caveat emptor!

Money Watch

There used to be 16 players in our group that would play twice a week here at Dobson Ranch. But because of the continued increase in green fees four of them no longer play at all. And most are only playing once a week.

I’m hoping the golf industry is pricing themselves out of business. There are numerous other things to do that don’t cost as much.

Even the Canadians can’t afford to play much.

For those of us that support the golf course year round we get charged a extra fee for having set tee times where they should be giving us a break for being here all the time.

League Loves Dobson

Our Golf League, fountain, Hills, breakfast, and Golf League, has several choices to play on Tuesdays. We play 52 weeks a year, and I must say that the treatment that we receive from Dobson Ranch is at the top of the list. From Mark who takes the bags in to Jeremy who checks everybody in The group could not be more pleasant to our golfers. Forget the fact that it’s a nice course to play our guys even love the Ranger, who moves us along at a steady pace. Thanks to all the staff at Dobson for making our choice a good one, Bart Zeller .

Ball Washers?

Little things can be annoying. The course is well watered and your ball picks up mud on just about every shot. No ball washers anywhere.

The 10th fairway abuts the practice range and might as well be part of it. You cannot find your ball in the sea of range balls on the 10th fairway...put up a fence....

A can of budweiser costs $7.50.....same can at Aguila...$5.

In this market little things count...

Great if you like hearing other people's music

If you love going to the course, whipping out your Bluetooth speaker to blast normie music so that everyone on the course can hear it, shoot 100+ but tell others you shoot 90 without counting your mulligans, your missed 3-4 footers, or any of the balls that went out of bounds, this is the spot for you.

Entering the course you are greeted the clubhouse blasting music to the range. It follows you into the golf shop where speakers in there blast it as well. Don't think that you can escape it once you're on the course - the course chose to install Bluetooth speakers in every cart.

The residents on the course added to the acoustic diversity. One home had a crazy lady with 8 chihuahuas barking. The 17th green had a new resident from California blasting their banda music from big speakers. Townhomes also had loud barking dogs.

The location is fantastic. The course is interesting enough to play with bunkers everywhere, doglegs, small elevation changes, and challenging greens. Condition is OK, greens rolled well and were a good speed, fairways were good, a few tee boxes/greens had too much sand and the rough was patching in spots, but there was actually rough around the greens.

The older employees were super nice, it's clear they love golf. The delivery of food/drink to any hole on the course is unique, wish they had more than hot dogs. It could be a fantastic affordable municipal course, but management chooses to cater to the people in society that everyone else pays money to avoid.

Best value in the area!

My favorite course for regular play. I expect to play it a dozen or so times between now and March 31.

Great layout and range, the most friendly and helpful staff anywhere! Accommodating to walkers, which may slow play some, but is a great option for those seeking a better workout.

Cost

I have played this course at least twice a week for over thirty years and now only afford to play once a week because of the cost. Don’t understand how the city can justify charging $67.00 to walk this course being a resident with a Ranch card. Very disappointing.

New to DR

We enjoyed playing the course, which has a challenging at times, but fun layout. The fairways were wetter than most courses we play. We had to implement lift, clean and place throughout the round.
