Beautiful layout!

The course was in great shape and the layout is beautiful. Tees, fairways, & greens were all in excellent condition.

Cart girl came through a few times per side.

The last few holes are along the ocean and it's a stunning view.

The only downside was that the range is limited to 225 yards so our first driver/wood swings of the day were on the course, which is not ideal. Luckily, #1 is a par-5 so you can make up for an errant tee shot.

Overall, we had a great time on a challenging, but fun course! I'd definitely play here again.

Links Course at Wild Dunes Resort: Local favorite for a reason

The Links Course underwent a substantial renovation by Tom Fazio's firm a few years ago, and it is, from what I gathered when I played the Wild Dunes Club Car Pro-Am, the more popular course among the locals. The most obvious improvements on The Links are vastly expanded greens and rebuilt white-sand bunkers. These new greens, feature increased undulations and wider variety of pin positions, and the surrounding turf is a newer variety of Bermuda grass, which is not nearly as "grabby" or "sticky" as you'll find on The Harbor Course.

Aside from the cramped 351-yard 10th hole – where a combination of overly-rumpled fairway, odd bunkering, and semi-blind landing areas make club choice on the tee basically impossible – there's not a bad hole on The Links Course. The round culminates at the 412-yard 17th and the new 185-yard 18th, though, with the waves crashing on the beach and the prevailing ocean winds turning club selection into a crap shoot.

The Links Course has some unexpected elevation changes, both from tee to green and fairway to green, on a few holes. The approach to the elevated green on the par-4 11th is shielded by mounding, and the tee box of the par-3 12th is perched a few dozen feet above the level of the green, making club selection tricky. As for the greens on both tracks, we tended to over-read putts on the Harbor Course all day, and under-read putts on The Links.

The Links Course at Wild Dunes is the local favorite for a reason: It's got plenty of challenge with enough forgiveness to ensure that even if you're having an off day, you'll still have fun. Greens are bigger, turf is more forgiving, and there's somewhat less water (still plenty of chances to see alligators, though).

Great track

Being winter the course was in amazing shape. Fairways were lush and greens rolled very well. Some parts were a little wet from all the rain over the last month. It was nice the carts were 90 degree and not cart path only.

Nice Course

Played the course for the first time and enjoyed every hole of it especially the last three.

They are right at the ocean and make out of a good round a perfect one.

Good value

Good value. Played the Harbor course for $70. I would play it again for sure. I was expecting a lot better service from the staff since this is in Isle of the Palms but overall it was a fun time.

Great Experience

If you are going to golf at Isle of Palms, this is definitely the place to go. Although it is slightly more expensive than Wild Dunes' Harbor Course, it is in better condition and has a wider range of holes with different feels.

Although I found a few holes to be somewhat plain and nothing to write home about (i.e., 1, 14, 15), there are so many others that are somewhat unique (i.e., 10, 12) and scenic (i.e., 16, 17, 18) that on-balance it was a great golf experience and a good break from my regular tracks.

The course was overall in excellent condition (other than a few tee boxes that were a little rough), the greens were firm and rolled true and the fairways were in good shape.

To a person, the staff that we interacted with was friendly, helpful and courteous - like they were truly pleased to have you at the course.

Also, unlike the Harbor Course, this course was not crowded and we were able to play at our own pace (a twosome, were able to finish in around 3.5 hours).

Further, unlike the Harbor Course, there is a driving range and ample parking.

Bottom Line: A great golf experience. Course is beautiful, varied, in great condition and not over-crowded. It will definitely be my first choice for Isle of Palms golf in the future.

Very nice track

In the Charleston area and got a day to play. This was a wonderful experience. Nicely conditioned for late spring, smooth greens, tight fairways.

Lots of treachery to avoid.

Really enjoyed the company of a retured couple from Atlanta and would look forward to returning to this course again.

Windy fun at Isle of Palms

First time playing the Wild Dunes Links course. A Fazio course that I believe he designed with better golfers in mind. There are some really funky holes like no 10, a short par 4 that is guaranteed to bamboozle even the best golfer with its elevation and sloped fairway.

17 and 18 are the only two ocean holes but were playing really hard on Sunday due to high wind off the ocean.

I will definitely play there again given the opportnity

Great Course

Played last week at the Links Course at Wild Dunes. With the extremely cold weather in the southeast this winter I was very surprised to find the course in excellent shape. The fairways were overseeded and full of rye. The greens were in excellent shape and rolled smooth and at a very nice speed. The starter was a nice gentlemen, the pace of play was decent, not great. The course is alot of fun to play, and is pretty challenging without killing you. The wind itself is a huge defense for the course. There are not a ton of forced carries. Most of the water in play (marsh and ocean) are on the sides. Most of the fairways are rather forgiving, however, most approach shots tighten up around the greens due to either bunkers or marsh. The greens are rather undulating and its rather easy to 3 putt and hard to get up and down when you miss.

All in all if you can get a deal its worth a play.

Challenging but fair

Played in late December fairways and greens were in great shape. Someone must have made the greens keeper mad that morning the pin positions for the weather conditions were beyond tough. Overall the course is challenging and fair not many shots that aren't right in front of you to see. I recommend anyone in the area go oit and play it.

A bit overpriced for the area and the competition

Nice course, a fair amount of trouble and nice green complexes. They did not change the cups from the day prior which was not a nice impression.

Great Course, Still too Expensive

This course is great to play. It's short, but the wind comes into play and knocks down the distance on a good amount of shots. Everything was great, from staff to pace of play. The only drawback is that this course is very overpriced. It's worth paying $85 bucks for the prime tee times and about $60 for twilight rates. All that being said, I would definitely play this course over the Harbor course if in Wild Dunes.

God course but Too expensive

The course condition is good, both fairway and green. But if you have paid the full rack rate and expecting spectacular views then thou will be disappointed. There are some water views at the end but very average view. For me it turned out a great round. I booked a 4pm game at $75 and was able to start the game at 3pm. Finishing at 730pm, way before sunset.

Low Country Resort Golf at its Best

Tom Fazio's first solo design. It's been renovated recently, with greatly expanded greens. 6503 yards from the tips, but plays longer due to sea-level elevation and ocean winds. Final two holes are the climax -- both right on the beach. 18th is a pretty par 3; used to be a par 5 before hurricane washed it out. A bit pricey at the top-end rack rate, but if you can get a deal, well worth it. Lots of OB/hazards (and gators), but very fun to play. Pace of play rating is low due to a bad foursome in front of us -- non-golfers comped a round by another resort because of a screw-up. Still, it was a very long round.

First time I played here in about 3 years and was amazed by the excellent condition, particularly the greens. Although quite firm, the putting surfaces were absolutely perfect....fast, smooth and true. The last three holes were renovated a couple of years ago (#18 changed to a par 3 from a par 5 due to beach erosion and the green on #16 enlarged), and made for a great finish. This course has a fabulous collection of par 3 holes, and although the overall length of the course is short by today's standards it is still challenging and very fun to play. Wind is typically a factor due to proximity to the ocean. Can't wait to go back real soon.
