The golf course at the San Marcos Golf Resort boasts an impressive list of past players that includes presidents and celebrities. The golf course is nestled on a property in downtown Chandler that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it has a desert landscape, the course is still lush with a canal that runs through it, a lake, and plush Bermuda grass greens, the former two creating water hazards that come into play on several holes. The San Marcos Golf Resort course is challenging with each hole having at least three bunkers. The two most difficult holes on the golf course are two lengthy par 4s, the fourth and the 10th.

Slow Play took the fun out of the round

4.5 hour rounds are not what I am looking for. 1:00 tee time, and finished at dark. Not enough monitoring of course. In addition, there were too many holes that were side by side, so shots from other holes were in our fairway. Poor practice area other than nice big putting green. On the plus side, starter was helpful, greens rolled nicely and the course was in good shape.

Very nice course for the money and surprisingly challenging.

Positives: Price. Location.

Negatives: Course is flat. Most fairways are lined with trees. It has small, narrow greens surrounded by large sand traps. The greens are sloping and faster than expected with difficult pin placements. The sand traps have no sand, they are hardpack.
