Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

Bunker
I want to play this course a lot more!!
I also want the grounds keeper to find a way to put sand in the bunkers. Unfortunately I hit the sand several times and each time I found the bunkers were more hard-pan rather than sand!! Yeah, I got out in one shot, for the most part, but there was no sand feel.
There were also some areas of dirt/hardpan in the fairways...but its summer in AZ and to be expected.
The staff....GREAT!
Yes, I will return anf bring friends!
Best Bang For Your Buck
Kenny Mac continues to be a great course for the low price it charges. A lack of amenities and QOL things holds it back but the golf is wonderful
Great course
They keep Ken Mac in great shape in the summer time especially for what you pay for it. Going during twilight is nice because the crowds aren’t big and it gets cooler as you play as supposed to hotter. If you go on the weekend expect the pace of play to be slower. During the week or at twilight is definitely the best time to play here
Fast pace day in the heat
The course was in good shape. No breakdown on the greens this year.
So much potential
This course has a lot of potential. The design and layout is phenomenal. I can't blame them entirely for the course conditions, either. Being it's the Arizona summer and the green fees weren't bad. However, pace of play was the worst I have ever been in. It took us 3 hours to finish the front 9. By hole 16 (and after passing 3 groups), we were at 4.25 hours played. It would have taken us over 5 hours to complete the course but we gave up. The staff was super friendly and told us the group taking so long is there every weekend and they are unable to remove them from the course... Unfortunate.
Still in good shape!
Early tee time and everything started in time Has a decent practice facility so no excuses for not worming up. I like this layout as it’s long enough where you will need to hit different clubs and the greens are in good shape. Bunkers are fair and not too much rough to contend with. There are a few holes with some patchy fairways but overall nothing that will adversely affect your day. Played with 3 others and used 3 tee boxes with a walker and finished in just under 4 hours. Can’t beat the value!
Best bang for your buck
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Had to keep going back
Poor pace of play and poor fairway conditions
5+ hour round in 105 heat. Fairways on several holes had little to no grass
