Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

10th Tee. Photo submitted by molineux on 09/23/2013
Still in good shape!
Early tee time and everything started in time Has a decent practice facility so no excuses for not worming up. I like this layout as it’s long enough where you will need to hit different clubs and the greens are in good shape. Bunkers are fair and not too much rough to contend with. There are a few holes with some patchy fairways but overall nothing that will adversely affect your day. Played with 3 others and used 3 tee boxes with a walker and finished in just under 4 hours. Can’t beat the value!
Best bang for your buck
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Had to keep going back
Poor pace of play and poor fairway conditions
5+ hour round in 105 heat. Fairways on several holes had little to no grass
Very nice beginner course
This was my first time playing this course and I very much enjoyed it. The course is primarily flat, but has many hazards to make a lot of the holes challenging. A few of the holes have multiple water hazards in play, and there are many strategically placed bunkers. Also, the course has a few long par 3s and 4s which can pose a fun challenge. I think this course can prove to be fun and enjoyable for both beginner and more experienced golfers. I would undoubtedly play the course again - especially considering the reasonably prices.
Except for the starter it was a nice day
Generally this course provides a nice experience and a good value. On my particular day the starter was quite unprofessional with his behavior and rule of the course. It's a thankless job but just be fair and consistent neither of which traits were on display 6/21/22 around 11:24 am. Other than that it was a pleasant day. The course has the typical dead and dry spots on the fairways for this time of year and the bunkers are crunchy as most are. All in all it's a decent place to play if the price is right
1st time on this course
Had a great time. Fairways are still filling in from winter grass. Will be really nice once filled in.

The course layout is very challenging...
The greens and bunkers were in excellent shape. The fairways however, were very thin and spotty with grass or lack of grass, Work is needed on the fairways but with the extreme heat that would be difficult.
I question the handicapping of a couple of the holes. I'm a 14 handicap player and to me holes 9 and 15 should be the lowest handicap holes on the course rather than the 5 and 10 handicap.
Coolers
Course conditions were good. Pace of play was very good. But this course has to be the only one in Phoenix area that doesn’t have coolers on the cart. It was 109 yesterday. Covid concerns are in the past. Put some coolers on the cart for heaven’s sake
