Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

A Tempe Gem; Arizona Gem
History, Energy, & Flow. Love it. Atypical and against the grain at all levels. This is a course that is accepting to beginners, yet satisfying to the experienced.

Family Fun. No stress golf.
We played 18 today. It was very slow but everyone was talking to each other, laughing and just enjoying the Saturday. The course is compact, giving it an intimate feel. Even some of the neighbors stopped to talk to us while waiting to tee off. Greens were firm. Fairways decent. Overall fun rating a 10!

Love Shalimar
Shalimar is a great 9 hole but bottlenecks pretty bad which slows everything down. Fun anyways but be prepared

Educate
Realize this is a beginner course but a 5 minute talk on course etiquette for all the new golfers who play this course would go a long way. Played with 3 older gentlemen on the first nine and 3 college students on the replay. Overall a good experience.
Just some simple info as how to speed up play to these novice golfers would be great. Some boys thought they had to wait for the group in front to finish a par 4 before they hit their 100 yard drives. They simply had no clue.

Shalimar is a gem
I love this place. It's my local, 2 min drive, 5 min bike ride, 18 min walk from my house. I'm pretty new to golf, recently moved to AZ from CA, but really love coming out to Shalimar whenever I can. I make it at least every week and I'm going to get a membership. It's affordable, has come challenging holes and friendly staff. They do a great lunch deal.
Great spot! I took my bosses here. They are pretty solid golfers and both enjoyed it.
