Comstock/River at Empire Ranch Golf Course

Played this course on a buddy trip to Carson City. Found it to be an OK course. Could use a little help with the geese but the T-boxes, fairways, and greens were very playable for my level. I did score better than average for a course never played before.

We enjoyed our afternoon round in the sun. There were a few blind shots but once done were not a problem. Bring lots of water in the afternoon as there is only refreshments available after 9 holes. Course was dry in a few areas.

Was concerned with a 2 pm T-time and 90 degree weather but it was GREAT! Course in great shape and although warm, the weather was nice and beautiful views. Was able to take time and not rush. This was a fantastic deal from GolfNow!!

The course was in good condition. The rough was pretty long but the greens were in good condition.

The course itself looked good but the wind was blowing hard, almost hard to hit any ball straight. It was hard even walking to the green or to hit the next shots after the drive. Had to quit after the 15th hole even after skipping the putting which is the most fun part of the game. The staff and local players said that it is usually windy at the course but not this high at 35 mph (?). Want to come back when there is no wind.
My wife caught a cold from the win and she had a rough time to sleep last night, coughing all night.

It was a wonderful day to golf. The greens were awesome.

Course is in outstanding condition. Fairways were just mowed and the greens were just rolled and very smooth.

Course was in good condition for this time of year. Pace of play was super. Great deal included a huge hot dog and a draft beer. Fun course.

Would play here again. Friendly staff and three courses to choose from.

My rating right now is based on winter conditions so expect brown grass, hard ground, wind, mud hens and geese. But, so are all courses in the Sierra Nevada area.
It is still a great deal, challenging enough and beautiful.

It was winter time so not much green put played a great game. Quiet, quick play enjoyable to come out and play in January when its 60 outside

This a good deal and I will do it again (as I have done previously). Considering the time of the season and the lack of any substantial precipitation, the course is in a reasonably good shape. Have and will continue to recommend this deal to others.

I played the course on a fairly cold and windy day. I've played it at this time of year for several years, and normally enjoy it, but this time we were surprised at the quantity of goose fecal matter on the course. We called the club house to see if one of the three nine hole courses had less fecal matter, but were told that they've had a huge problem with the geese this year. On several greens we just had to pick up (our balls, that is!).

Forgiving, fun, and entertaining! ...Good food, great drinks, fast and friendly staff! ...Walkable, playable, and warm!

Course layout was nothing special. Too much wetland area. Mostly every hole had a swamp near it.

Played Blue (Sierra) and White (River). These 9's were in great shape from tee to green!
I read reviews regarding the course layout being a bit confusing for 1st timers here, but I found it fairly easy to navigate by taking time to study signage, which helped a lot - especially with the hole layouts! Tee signs showing this were a huge help in planning my attack for every hole! Much better than the scorecards. Nicest and most informative signs I've seen!
The pro shop and restaurant staff were also extremely helpful and ffriendly!
My only "Con" is both were closed at the end of my round at 5:30pm, and I was really looking forward to a post-round beverage! Leaving thirsty cost 'em a star here!
This course is on my "Definitely Play Again" list!

Golf at Empire was fabulous! The weather was anywhere from 77-82 degrees although a little smoky from the King Fire. Wildlife, River, views, and hardly anyone playing on a gorgeous last day of summer.
