About
Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Toiyabe Golf Club (formerly known as Thunder Canyon Country Club and Lightning "W" Ranch Golf Course.) has a picturesque landscape of shimmering lakes, meandering streams, and towering pines. This course has a traditional layout that features contoured fairways and fast, generous greens. There are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on 14 holes. Elevated tees provide spectacular views of Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain. The golf course is challenging but still player-friendly with seven sets of tees. In addition to the course, Toiyabe Golf Club also offers practice facilities that include chipping and sand practice areas along with an expansive putting green.

Very nice conditions for late October. Green in great condition fairways beautiful. My favorite Reno course.
NVE Retirees
Course was in good shape except for areas on some fairways and along some of the cart paths that are either over-watered or have broken sprinkler heads. The weather was sunny, mid-70s with no wind or breezes. Staff was great! We all had a great day!
Fast Greens
Course was in great condition. Fast and true greens,.

Course played excellent! Greens rolled true and the wind was down to a slight breeze. Different course with no wind! Enjoyed the round! Staff is always solid. Worth the drive to Play.
Fairways were cut short and were very wet, which made it difficult to hit flush iron shots.
Oct 5th
The course was in great shape and the staff was friendly. Not so good, was that we came out when the girls HS team was out, play was extremely slow. I know most golfers have some type of GPS, but I am not one of them, so I would like to suggest a yardage marker of 150 yds only on a small pole along the cart path on each par 4/5. Don't need a 100 yd or 200 yd marker, just something out there to help a little. THANKS.

This course was a little hard to find no directional signs anywhere but worth the effort! Fun course to play a little difficult for a new golfer but a good test for even the better player Some long par 3’s especially if the wind is blowing course in great shape and greens were true and fast a pleasure to play
Best Value in Northern NV
Course is in fantastic shape. Greens are fast and smooth. Layout is very fair but challenging. Can't believe how affordable it is. Carts are newer. Amazing scenery. Will definitely be going back
Beautiful course
Love the layout in the mountains. Greens were tricky. Might have been set up for tournament. The grass surrounding the greens was also difficult to master. Thick and rubbery in spots. Might want to practice chips from thick stuff first. Love this course for the beauty tho. I will return.

Good course the fairways had a few wet spots from previous rain day but no complaints very well kept maintenance greens were excellent

Fun track, friendly staff, challenging greens and overall great condition. Will be back!
