Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Toiyabe Golf Club (formerly known as Thunder Canyon Country Club and Lightning "W" Ranch Golf Course.) has a picturesque landscape of shimmering lakes, meandering streams, and towering pines. This course has a traditional layout that features contoured fairways and fast, generous greens. There are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on 14 holes. Elevated tees provide spectacular views of Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain. The golf course is challenging but still player-friendly with seven sets of tees. In addition to the course, Toiyabe Golf Club also offers practice facilities that include chipping and sand practice areas along with an expansive putting green.

It’s an ok course. There are other better courses than that. Their club has nothing to offer. I am not impressed with the course layout and the greens were average. The price is ok.

Windy Day

Mother nature made it rough with 40 mph winds. The course is a great value.It would be nice if they would add some yardage markers.Hole diagrams on the scorecard would also help

Nice course to play

Had a chance to play this course while in town for work. Not crowded, pace of play was great. The course is in great shape and manicured greens. Will defiantly play this course again when in town.

Watch out for the wind coming down from the mountain, the wind will move your ball, so be prepared.

Worth the drive

Drove from Sacramento to play this course because I had work in Carson City. I was glad I chose this course it was a beautiful course nice layout and nice manicure greens. Will definitely try to play next time I'm in town

Pace of play was “Glacial”

Had a tee time at 1150 and didn’t tee off until 1205. Made the turn at 210 and waited 15 minutes for 3 groups ahead of us. They proceeded to get drinks from the bev cart In the middle of the fairway causing even more delays. Got 14 holes in in 4.5 hours. Why does Duncan golf always overbook courses? Other than the pace of play the course was great!
