Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Toiyabe Golf Club (formerly known as Thunder Canyon Country Club and Lightning "W" Ranch Golf Course.) has a picturesque landscape of shimmering lakes, meandering streams, and towering pines. This course has a traditional layout that features contoured fairways and fast, generous greens. There are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on 14 holes. Elevated tees provide spectacular views of Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain. The golf course is challenging but still player-friendly with seven sets of tees. In addition to the course, Toiyabe Golf Club also offers practice facilities that include chipping and sand practice areas along with an expansive putting green.

It was my first time playing this course. Found it to be somewhat challenging. Greens were very good. Course was somewhat soggy in certain areas. The only thing I would suggest is that since it was our first time playing that there could be more direction signs when going to the next tee box. Easy to get lost finding a few. Otherwise, I would recommend playing again.

Great shape. friendly and professional staff

I like Toiyabe and play there a couple times a year, at minimum. This was my first round there this year and the course is in great shape and greens were running firm and true. Staff is very friendly and the COVID-19 measures were being taken seriously, which was reassuring.

Hot day with no breeze but beverage court came around every few holes.

Front nine played very efficiently with no wait on any tees. Back nine was slower.

Mother nature made it rough with 40 mph winds. The course is a great value.It would be nice if they would add some yardage markers.Hole diagrams on the scorecard would also help
