Ventura Country Club
About
The golf course at the Ventura Country Club, situated east of Orlando near many major highways and the airport, is semi-private but the facility welcomes outside play. It is a short course that features undulating greens with sudden breaks. The golf course has challenging par-3 holes that put a premium on shot accuracy. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout as well as water hazards on 14 holes. Most of the well-manicured fairways are lined with homes. The par-5, 13th hole is Ventura Country Club's signature hole. It requires a shot from an elevated tee over water and past thick forestry on the left and an approach shot to small, well protected green that slopes back to front.

The tee shot on #6 requires a rather strong forced carry Photo submitted by Tom1842836 on 12/04/2017
Always a great track!
Since the remodel it can be hard to find a tee time, but I'm glad to know it's because they're not overpacking the course!
From tee to green the conditions are great. The new bigger greens are not easier but I welcome the challenge.
This course is still short, but it plays tough. Get yourself in position and you can score. Get out of position and your first priority should be to get back in the fairway.
I'm super happy with this course and really wish they had more memberships open to the public.
Ventura
Love the new layout. Great changes to a few of the holes. 18 can really be a challenge. Easily accessible off of 408 and close to OIA.
Disappointed golfer
Expected a lot being a country club but it doesn’t have a semblance of a CC.
Love the improvements!
Love the new improvements, still getting used to the change of holes, not too happy with that one. But very happy about the longer tees, where now I can choose a big wood over just irons of some tees. Greens are always good .. not likely you'll get many dead straight putts.
I got lucky from a bad break .. the guys I got paired with were only playing 9, so I was expecting a long wait on every coming hole. But the foursome ahead of us, they knew they were slow and let me pass at the 11th. From then on, I had free reign and no wait!
2 stars for a mediocre semi-private course
I decided to check out Ventura, located off Curry Ford Road in a gated community, for a 5:50 tee time one weekday afternoon. Due to traffic, I arrived just in time for my tee time and went over to the starter for my cart. He said "Playing 9?" I responded: "Trying to get 18 in 2 hours with the daylight." He says "Good luck" and walks off.
I started the course, which requires you to go across a street for the first 2 holes and then come in and around to various holes, and found that this relatively short course was alright at first. However, the need to fit holes in such compact areas makes for some awkward tee boxes, including a par 5 with the back tees another 100 yards across a lake. The conditions at the course were ok (it was during the drought), but nothing special for being a semi-private course.
I caught up with 3 other golfers during my round and we headed over to tackle the 18th hole just as the sun was setting. We finished when it was still light out and we were able to see our balls fine (around 7:50). I pull up to the starter/cart drop off and one guy jumps in my cart before I have a chance to even start unloading. I awkwardly get my things out around him as the other starter says "we don't play night golf." I responded: "I agree. Glad I could catch up with the others and get done during the light." He then shakes his head and walks away. Putting aside that he wouldn't have had to wait any longer if I hadn't played due to the 3 other players, this level of rudeness combined with the lack of anything that stood out at a "semi-private" course that is out of my way means I'll be looking elsewhere in the future.
Spectacular Greens ... not a bad lie anywhere
What can I say? This course is spectacular. The greens are beautiful and run true. There isn't a bad lie anywhere on the course. Very playable from 6,000 yards although there are beastly par 3s. And pace of play was very good.
Better range
This course for being short was fun. The greens were in good shape and offer a challenge when approaching a putting. They need to work on the driving range. It is just a patch of grass under the power lines a half mile away from the club house. You can not take a cart you have to drive. They do not tell you that until after you get range balls and the put your clubs on a cart. They fix that issue and it would be a solid course all around.
Course needs major TLC
Course can use some expert care as it seems neglected definite potential but right now doesn’t look like it
Way Overbooked
I booked this course while visiting my son and daughter in law. My wife came along just to watch but they still charged us another $25 for her to ride in the cart with me. They added a single golfer to our group to make a foursome. We were playing "best ball" so we stayed right behind the group in front of us. My son and the young man that played with us occasionally hit 300yd. drives so we had to wait for the group ahead to clear the green on a couple of short par 4's. Somehow they booked a single behind us. He eventually saw that we were backed up as far as you could see and left. The foursome behind him wanted to play through us but my son pointed out that we were waiting on the group ahead. They then proceeded to curse us and even used their cart to run my son and his wife off the cart path as they were trying to move away from the abusive behavior! Later, the staff informed us that one of the players in the group behind us was a member that had frequent complaints. It became clear that they weren't going to address this issue with the club member but they did ,at least, escort us to our vehicle. We won't be back!
We’ll Cared For
This course covered the greens during last year’s hurricane and it shows, greens in very good condition. Pace was good, refreshment cart came around twice per 9. Course restrooms clean and well kept. Some water, plenty of sand……. Fairways in good condition.
Slow pace
Always fun to play Ventura. This time pace was very slow mainly because of 4 guys trying to play from black tees when they probably should have used mens forward. And noise! Didn´t know ready golf either. The Marshall should have admonished them. I have been playing golf in Florida for 20 years and I am seeing this a lot lately people dont seem to realise that playing from the appropriet tee makes the game much more enjoyable for them and at the same time not slowing everybody else down.
